Dayton Audio TWC-0.75CH 0.75 cu. ft. 2-Way Curved Speaker Cabinet Cherry

If you want to create a loudspeaker without investing the time and money building one from scratch, these cabinets are the answer. Dayton Audio pre-made enclosures eliminate the time-consuming and messy steps of cutting wood, assembling the panels and bracing, gluing veneer, and finishing. Using Dayton Audio speaker cabinets will guarantee superior results every time. 3/4" MDF side and back panel construction is reinforced by a 3/4" MDF "shelf" brace running vertically up the sides and across the top and bottom. The entire cabinet, including the rear, is covered with a very rich, genuine cherry wood veneer with a semi-gloss finish. The baffle is 1" MDF with a black satin finish and rabbeted construction. It offers the flexibility of the B-REX replacement system and comes pre-finished without any driver cutouts. The grill is secured to the baffle by neo magnets in line with the machine screws that fasten the baffle to the enclosure. Two 1/4" holes on the back simplify installation of Dayton Audio knock-in binding posts. Attractive curved-sided design is extremely rigid and solid, with minimized panel resonance. Complete with baffles, hardware, and grills. Add crossover parts, port tubes, damping materials, binding posts, and your drivers to create a complete system rivaling the appearance of the most lavishly presented audiophile speakers.

Dimensions: 17" H x (10" Front, 4.5" Back) W x 14.5" D.

Note: Cabinet dimensions do not include grill

One of the most innovative features is the exclusive Baffle Replacement and EXchange (B-REX) system, which allows the front baffle to be easily removed for prototyping and construction. The satin black finish baffle has 4 pre-drilled holes for machine screws that line up with matching threaded inserts, to secure the baffle to the cabinet. The baffle can be installed or removed an infinite number of times. This is great for initial driver cutouts, allowing the work to take place on a piece of flat stock, rather than on a finished cabinet.

Thanks to the B-REX system, if you are uncertain whether your speakers are complete, the machine screws by themselves can be used to hold the baffle in place. Once you are ready to finalize the design, they then act as clamps too hold the baffle in place while your glue is setting. Blank baffles are available separately, allowing further possibilities in terms of using a single cabinet for multiple pairs of drivers. As you can see, the versatility offered by the B-REX system is unmatched in any other pre-finished cabinet!

Dayton Audio TWC-0.75CH 0.75 cu. ft. 2-Way Curved Speaker Cabinet Cherry
Dayton Audio TWC-0.75CH 0.75 cu. ft. 2-Way Curved Speaker Cabinet Cherry is rated 4.75 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent craftsmanship and very solidI have always made my own cabinets, but decided this time to try out a pre-made set. The TWC-0.75CH cabinets are gorgeous - excellent craftsmanship. They are also heavy and very solid. Not cheap, but worth the money, in my opinion. I used these in a 2-way bass-reflex design: Usher 7" 8948A woofer, Morel MDT 29 tweeter, and Dayton Audio 2-way crossover at 2500 hz. I put the 2" reflex port in the rear, directly behind the tweeter. See attached pics. Very nice sound with excellent detail from the tweeters and a 3db down point of 44 hz from the woofer, but a touch bright, so I will be damping the tweeters a couple of db, which should bring it into perfect balance. Very pleased with the finished look of the cabinets. One word of caution. If you use a router guide to cut the woofer holes, the theoretically very smooth plastic base of my router guide left very light scuff marks on the cabinet face that are permanent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very attractive cabinetsThe curved design is very attractive. They were well packaged. It was certainly much easier than building cabinets from scratch. My 6.5 inch Audio Nirvana speakers sound great in these cabinets. I wish they made some big enough for 10 or 12 speakers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Stunning! This is a great cabinet. It is very stiff and sturdy. has plenty of space for an XO in front or behind the internal brace. The size is perfect for 2-way speakers with 7" or even some 8" woofers. The magnetic grills are a real nice feature. The cherry finish is flawless on my pair. The black finished baffle is durable and stands up well to the router. One tip, before you route cover the baffle front completely with the blue type masking tape. That will help prevent the finish from chipping and generally protects the baffle during the routing process.I also appreciated the recessed fastener mounting for the baffle with the black anodized bolts, and the included allen wrench is a nice touch. If you factor in the time it would take you to build a cabinet of this quality, these are a bargain.Very highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bonafide Giant Killer (or rival)I was tired of the "upgrading" game when I decided 5 yrs ago to try DIY's. I've owned stuff like PSB Stratus Mini, Paradigm Studio 20, DALI Suite 1.7(a favorite), Mirage M850i, Mision 775, B&W 705 and am now settled with Wilson WATT-PUPPY 5.1(pre-owned gems).First started with having a cabinet artisan build me raw boxes; then finished cabinets. I went into learning cabinetry (fun but was a whole different hobby altogether). These PE-TWC Cherry cabs are now my 6 or 7th pair from PE. The CHERRY is better than my excellently finished DALI Towers(also in Cherry). The Gloss Black has a deeper, glossier shine than my Mirage's were. The reflections on the Gloss Blk show perfect mirror images (no curved or distorted reflections).Edges and corners of Cherry Veneers are 100% architectural grade. Even without the ocassional "free Shipping" offers, it is a NO BRAINER! Warning: If you aren't using the JASPER Circle Jig (read my review, too) to install flush-mounted speakers, get one! Finished baffles are not forgiving if you chip the edges of you're recess cut-outs.Draw-Back, albeit minor, is the width measurements. It's accurate, alright. You have to factor in the 3/8" round-over on each side. Also, if you are using woofers that don't need flush-mounting due to rounded-over frame edge(e.g., Hi-Vi F6), you may need to carve out some MDF on the inside of the Grill Frame. The inside width of the grill frame is slightly narrower than the outside diameter of the F6. It's a small step but very achievable. If you're flush mounting woofers, then you can ignore that last comment because the grill can now rest flush on the baffle.*** Feel free to email me questions about my experiences with these boxes.

Dayton Audio TWC-0.75CH 0.75 cu. ft. 2-Way Curved Speaker Cabinet Cherry

Tannoy 8" dual concentric.

I have couple of Tannoy Dual concentric 8" speakers, but would the 0.788 cubic foot enclosure be large enough? Would a port be recommended? what enclosure should I get? I plan to used it for music mostly with tube amp.
Asked by: Andreyd
Your Tannoy drivers are very good. This cabinet is actually pretty small considering the baffle size. That would be a bit tricky. If you knew what model the Tannoy was that the drivers came out of - that would be helpful in researching the cabinet size and it was more than likely ported. Other than that, you would need to have the driver measured to get all the thiele-small parameters to determine box size, port length and diameter to get it right. Sounds like you really enjoy music. I've heard Tannoys with tubes - very silky smooth. Do it right and you'll have a great speaker system.
