Dayton Audio T1004K 10" Titanic Mk 4 Subwoofer Kit

The Dayton Audio 10" Titanic Mk 4 Subwoofer System is the latest evolution of a design that has received enthusiastic reviews from users and the press for over six years. With its 10" Titanic Mk 4 driver and SPA250 amplifier, the T1004 delivers punchy, accurate bass—exceptional for music playback and great for small-to-medium sized home theater systems. Expect useful bass output down to 30 Hz, and output levels up to 105 dB. Features high and low level inputs, built-in variable crossover, auto on/off, and 250 watts RMS output.

Dayton Audio designed the Titanic Mk 4 subwoofer kits to give you the performance you demand, at a price that makes plain common sense. Why buy a mass-market subwoofer that often has a markup of well over 10 times the cost of the parts? If you are lucky, you are getting a $20 woofer and a $20 amplifier. With the Titanic subwoofer kits, you know exactly what you are getting—nothing but the best in cabinets, drivers, and amplifiers.

Each system features one of our legendary Titanic Mk 4 subwoofer drivers—U.S.A.-built behemoths known for their excellent build quality and awesome low frequency performance. The driver is precisely mated with a high-power Dayton Audio amplifier that exploits the woofer's massive potential and provides the best sound quality and highest output levels.

Driver and amp are housed in a rigid, acoustically inert 3/4" MDF enclosure featuring an internal brace, a special satin-textured enamel finish, 1/4" roundovers on all edges, and a 1" thick MDF grill. Black chrome spikes, included with the system, rigidly couple the cabinet to the floor for improved bass clarity and output, while also adding a very classy and elegant touch. The finished systems are unobtrusive in appearance, but deliver awesome bass performance that is truly "titanic" in proportion.

Titanic systems are available in an easily assembled kit form that requires a few basic hand tools and approximately one hour to complete. A subwoofer driver, amplifier, and custom cabinet are included, along with instructions and all necessary hardware. The cabinet itself is ready-to-go because the hard work has already been done: driver cutout, amplifier cutout, pre-installed T-nuts for driver mounting, and pre-installed T-nuts for the floor spikes.

Dayton Audio T1004K 10" Titanic Mk 4 Subwoofer Kit
Dayton Audio T1004K 10" Titanic Mk 4 Subwoofer Kit is rated 4.5758 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth the money, but quality control issuesI purchased two 10" Titanic MK4 kits on July 5th. They arrived the following Thursday in four well packaged boxes. In less than two hours I had the kits assembled and connected to my hifi system, replacing a ported subwoofer that was about the same price as one of these subs ($400). These subs do produce tight, clean output down to about the 35hz to 40hz range, but drop off quickly after that. For music these subs are very good. For home theater the 12" or 15" version would be far better. The major complaint that I have is that the power cords included with these kits do not fit the power receptacle on the sub. Luckily I had additional power cords that did fit. I have to wonder how Parts Express can ship these units with ill fitting cords. I think I read other reviews expressing the same complaint. The box and amp seem to be marginal, but adequate. On the positive side, the driver looks bullet proof and sounds really good. In spite of the shortcomings, these subs have cleaned up the bass in my system and have given it more impact. Kick drums and bass guitars have a weight that was previously missing. Attack and decay of bass notes is good and there is now space between bass notes that was not discernible before. All in all these subs are worth the money, and if you're fortunate enough to have the correct power cords lying around your house, you can actually enjoy them right away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbeatable. This thing is tight! The way bass is meant to be!! Real! Must break in for several hours. Not to good first couple hours.Fantastic now at 6-8 hours of use. I have two friends with 3k$ and 600$ subs and they are sorry they spent that much after hearing mine.I use with Onkyo 65W 5.1 and 4 Golden Ear front and rear. TIDAL HD audio stream (music) and blu ray movies. This is not your boom boom rap bass. This is high quality tight accurate response. High db level. It only booms when the source material meant it to boom. Audiophiles........GET IT! Goose bump producer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ValueSuper easy to put together. Sounds great. No Hum. Solid quality. Nice enough finish. I think really good value relative to the expensive stuff at my high end hi-fi place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough to Beat this SubI've been using this sub for a few years and have done some comparison listening sessions with 10" subs at 2x the price. Most revealing of the tests was against the $650 Paradigm which revealed the Dayton's superior control. Dramatically tighter. I'm not a speaker designer nor an engineer so I'm just guessing its the Titanic driver.I'm so impressed and plan to buy another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I wanted. All I really wanted for Christmas was a little thump to go with my Klipsch WF-35's. My priority is music, but also like nice audio for movies. The build was easy - just like everyone says. Hooked it up to sub output of Yamaha RX-V467 (5.1) and let it rip. After fiddling for a few minutes I left the gain and crossover each at about half and popped in Ace of Base (well, you KNOW which track :). Fantastic!! Plenty of thump and plenty of adjustment to make it suit your taste. That little shred of doubt about whether I should have gotten the 12 or 15 evaporated in about 2 seconds. No buyer's remorse here! Believe what everybody says and don't throw your money away on a big dollar name-brand sub. This thing is a beast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome little subI was trying to decide whether to go with one large sub or 2 smaller ones. I finally decided on 2 smaller subs as they would fill the room better. I had one 12" sub that worked ok but the sound was just muddy. This 10" sub is just fantastic, and 2 of them together is just phenomenal. The build was very easy, had both of them built in just over 2 hours. Build quality was very good. The sound is truly exceptional. You'll get decent bass from just one, but if you want that visceral feel of the bass you'll need 2 or more. You'll spend less on 2 of these then you would on one large sub. Plus the smaller subs are easier to fit in to areas.

Dayton Audio T1004K 10" Titanic Mk 4 Subwoofer Kit

I am interested in this unit but have hardwood floors and cannot use spikes.  Do you sell a set of rubber feet that will work with this item?

Asked by: baylis5280
We do have different types of rubber feet available, but none that will work in the pre-installed M6 threaded inserts. The spikes include small disks when used with hardwood floors that prevent any damage to the floor.

Hello, I would like to know if I could install this in a floor, it would have open access in the basement. Do I need a vent for this? Regards, Mike G.

Asked by: mikey1321
As long as the woofer faces into the room without anything in the way you will be fine, venting this is not necessary.

I am looking for a small project to work on after my TBI and would like to know how the DIY Dayton Audio BR-1 6-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Monitor Speaker Kit would pair with this powered sub? I will be using a Onkyo TX-8050 for my receiver.

Asked by: mikey34
Yes this sub will work well with the BR-1 kit.
