Dayton Audio T-Amp and B652 Speaker Bundle
Dayton Audio T-Amp and B652 Speaker Bundle is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Got 2 LemonsI ordered the combo to be used as computer speakers. Shipping was fast and they arrived unscathed. Judging by other reviews they probably would have sounded good and did the job if I hadn't got lemons. It happens. First off the power jack on amp would not stay in unless it was held there and second the speakers didn't match. One was missing the Dayton emblem on the speaker grill and the other was missing the spec sticker on the back. There have been at least a couple revisions to these speakers one version being 6 ohms and the other 8 ohms. I couldn't tell you if they were from different revisions as I don't own anything else to connect them to. I'm giving this 3 stars because PartsExpress customer service is great. They RMA'd the combo no questions asked. And in a way it was a blessing because it gave me an excuse to give my wife as a reason why I should move up to a pricier setup. I ordered a set of Pioneer SP-BS21-LR from elsewhere online and a Lepai LP7498E from PartsExpress.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the price but......Like most of the other reviews I am going to say that these speakers are pretty good for the price. I would probably be somewhat disappointed if the price was any higher (Im reffering to the speakers only in this review, the amp is great). I will explain, there are a number of things I found wrong with these speakers and probably explain why they cost so little. So after receiving these and unboxing them and giving them a good look-over I found that first of all they are 4ohm according to my multimeter, which is odd b/c the sticker on the back says 8ohm and in the description they say 6ohm,whats that all about? That actually is not a problem since the amp actually puts out more at 4ohm so I was kinda glad to see that. A small detail that seems off is the sticker I was reffering to on the back of the speaker giving the specs, that sticker is only on the back of one speaker. Im not sure if that is how they are supposed to be or if they just forgot to put a sticker on the other one, whatever not a big its just a sticker. After further inspection by taking the mid and tweeter out of the enclosure the mids were OK and both matched up but looking at the tweeters they were different. I mean they were the exact same tweeter but the caps used were different,on one tweeter they used a 6.6uf capacitor and the other tweeter had a 3.3uf capacitor. That difference did indeed make a difference in the sound making one speaker sound louder than the other. I noticed that at lower volumes the one speaker will be very low or just be completly silent while the other plays fine, but when I turn up the volume the lower speaker comes back on or catches up to the other speaker or at least it seems that way to my ears. They still by be at different volumes but once they are up to a high enough volume I cant tell,it seems to just have an effect at lower volumes which bothers me b/c most of the time I have to listen to them at lower volumes so I dont wake people up at night since Im up most of the night to fit my work schedule. The last thing is that one of the speakers, the same one that had the sticker on the back, had a peice of stuffing gently laying inside,it wasnt even glued down. The other seaker had no stuffing/polyfill at all. Now it seems to me like whoever made these speakers didnt quite finish one of my speakers, like they just threw it in the done pile or were running low on time and just boxed it up without finishing it. I really dont understand how or why Dayton's quality control people didnt catch these mistakes before shipping this set out the way it was. I really expected more from a great company like Dayton Audio. I guess the saying "you get what you pay for" is true. Dont get me wrong, the speakers sound good, for the money, but like I said if they were priced a penny more I would have felt ripped off. I can live with these minor issues and fix them. I need to know what capacitor is the correct one for the tweeter or which one I should use for the best results, maybe someone on here or someone that works at PE can help me out with that? It would be nice to have Dayton Audio send me the correct caps for my speakers and another sticker to match my other speaker but I highly doubt they would do that. Anyways how much are caps nowadays $1? $1.50? Its not that big of a deal to me. Maybe if I use better/different matching capacitors the speakers will sound better! Sorry for the long review but if you are thinking about buying this combo or just the speakers I really think you should read this just so you know it could happen to you too. Bottom line I am still happy with the set, the amp is great and works fine (I just wish there was a remote for the amp,or I could add one some how) and the speakers are good too even with the flaws, the mids and tweets seem built very well and the cabinets seem decent quality too......for the price!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Same as the other reviewsI bought this combo as a gift for my brother-in-law, a graphic designer that spends a lot of time on the computer. As stated in other reviews these are great upgrades to basic computer speakers, and have average performance (tweeters are bright and lacks mid bass). What i was most impressed honestly is the price for what you get: speakers, amp, patch cable and wall mounting supplies.I plan on getting a few more of these speakers/amps just to have.Parts Express FTW!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good ValueThe speakers for the price sound great and the amp drives them fairly clean and to adequate levels. It would make a great economical system for a small room or a remote room off a main system.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great budget systemblue LED lasted all of 5 minutes. occasionally comes back on. sound quality is absolutely decent for the price. much better than just about anything else out there. bought as a set to keep in the kitchen for listening to music while cooking or while having people over. plenty loud, distortion doesnt set in til pretty intense levels.if you are looking for a cheap, simple setup... this is probably it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How neat! They work exactly as described, good clear sound unless turned up extremely loud. Not baby-destroyingly bassy, but they are 100 times better than your average craptop speakers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DTA-1 is Great little Amp, but B652 Speakers BLOW ME AWAY!I have these speakers hooked up to the DTA-1 and sitting at far ends of my two widescreen LCD monitors on my desk at work. There is no distortion in the sound, nor on my monitors even though the B652 speakers are not shielded. I don't think this will be a problem with newer LCD monitors like it was with CRT monitors. There is plenty of sound at my desk, even at lower levels since I do not turn them up very loud at all. But to really appreciate the B652 speakers, you have to hook them up to an amp with a little more omph.I recently hooked them up to my JVC JR-300 MarkII amplifier (1970's amp) rated at 55 watts @8 ohms for both channels. Although the speakers are rated at only 40 watts, I found that I could turn up the volume louder than I would ever play it normally and there is still an incredibly balanced sound. I played Bach organ music (the Preludes and Fugues) through these speakers, and they are just wonderful. Using the JVC equalizer on the amplifier, I only had to back off of the next to the lowest band (250 Hz) to remove just a touch of boom at the higher volumes and get what I preceive to be an hugh amount of bass for such little speakers. I am just "blown away" by these little jewels -- for only $39.00 it's an incredibly good sound. I've heard much more expensive speakers that don't even compare! Get these speakers, you won't regret it. The bundle is great for a desktop computer with LCD monitors.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not worthy of the hype, but decentI was disappointed when I got these and hooked them up to my computer. I was not expecting anything near profound, the price should tell you that. But I was expecting something I can use as cheap monitors to use for music production that would at least be better then my laptop speakers. And while they are much better then the built in laptop speakers, I am not sure that I can use them for production. The treble is really peaky and tinny. The bass is boomy as others have said. Adjusting eq in itunes helped the boomy bass but thats no good if I want good balanced music production. I need a flat response speaker thats not boomey if I am going to get the eq in my productions setup properly. Its just a general sign of a low quality speaker.Don't get me wrong, these speakers are much better then other computer speakers you would find for $60. They blow any of those tiny few inch cubed speakers with the separate sub woofer out of the water. This is why I would recommend them to a friend. For most of my friends who don't really car about audio quality, these would be a good buy if they were going to drop $60 on a pair of speakers. As for me, I was hoping for more, but I also feel that I should have known better. They are much better then the built in laptop speakers and maybe with some simple mods (I bought caps, coils, have not put them in yet, and will put poly fill and dowels in per others suggestions). Hopefully this will be enough to flatten these out enough for me to use for production but I am not holding my breath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great price, great performance! This works as advertised! Plenty of sound for a 2.5 car garage! The only 'issue' I found is if I turn it up past about 80%, it will shut down momentarily (blue LED goes out) when heavy bass hits. Honestly, it's *PLENTY* loud to irritate the neighbors well before that level, so it's not a problem, but it's a point of interest.I'm using the standard power supply that came with it, so maybe a beefier supply will help... Again, it's not a hindrance to producing audio that's loud enough, so I don't feel the need to try it out.The sound is crisp and clear throughout the range. In short, great speakers, and a great amp!!I used the 249-256 speaker mounts; I simply threaded one bolt through the mounting plate on the back of the speaker -- seems more than sturdy enough.Another small item of interest... I used the battery cover as a mounting flange, and put a couple screws through it to mount it to the bottom of some shelves in my garage. Easy enough to detach, but sturdy to keep it up and out of the way. Photos attached.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pleasantly Surprising AudioI have purchased a discontinued T-amp amplifier in the past and it continues to put out some sweet sounds so I took a chance on the T-amp/speaker combo and this combo also puts out really good sounds that have improved our TV experience dramatically. I've watched exercise videos for several years and didn't know what sounds I was missing until I hooked up the combo! The products came quickly and the hookup was very simple and took less than 15 minutes. The simplicity of the single knob control is very nice. The blue LED pilot light is a bit distracting so I toned it down by gluing a paper punch to it and now it is not distracting. I wish I had purchased the combo sooner!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbeatable Value for MoneyThis bundle has to be the best bargain in audio equipment today. Many have already sung the praises of the DTA-1. It lives up to the billing. Dead simple - one on/off/volume switch, one blue LED, one 3.5 input, two speaker outs. Put 8AA batteries in, and thing cranks sweet, musical, tube-y tones for hours on end. I've run 10 hours already with no signs of slowing down. Pair it with something like, say, a Sansa Clip, and you're ready to go.The unsung heroes of this bundle, though, are the B652s. Again, simply a great speaker with smooth, accurate performance across the frequency spectrum.Given the choice, I dislike buying PRC-sourced anything, but this value of this combination is too good to pass up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great buy from PESo i just got this today in the mail and i set it up with a Dayton sa-70 amp and a tang band sub. It sounds awesome. I was surprised. I would recommend an equalizer however as the highs are a bit harsh at times. With an 3.5 mm plug to RCA to the EQ then rca to your audio source.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing bang for the buckThe sound quality simply blows traditional computer speakers away with excellent highs and mids clarity. The bass is surprisingly decent although it needs a subwoofer for a full range.
Date published: 2012-02-25
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than I expected!!!Exceeded my expectations by far. At first I didn't think the amp was going to suitable for the speakers, I was wrong. The bass response isn't the best at high volumes but at this price you can't go wrong. I plan to upgrade in the future but these are great for just about any application.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product(s)Really happy with the purchase. I'm by no means an audiophile. What I do know is that these speakers/amp bundle sound a whole lot better than the JBL speakers that I received with my PC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unreal valueI have purchased 4 sets now to give the other 3 away as gifts. The sound is fantastic for the price, and will fill a decent sized room. If you want to be an audiophile snob and pick them apart you bought the wrong package! At the price they are best mini setup I've ever used.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not the product that others rave aboutDayton Audio T-Amp and B652 Speaker BundleLow output amplifier did increase volume slightly, but speakers were flat and unresponsive. Bass was none existent.Found the bundle of much lower performance than the rave reviews on the site. These products combined do not perform as well as my 15 year old stereo system that cost $100 15 years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Killer setup for such a great price! So, I NEVER write reviews but feel compelled to on this purchase. I plan on using this setup for TV audio and background music in our kitchen. There's quite alot of room above the cabinets to tuck the speakers in.as I was unpacking I was setting my expectations low. I mean what are you really going to get for $60.WOW, I can't believe the sound that comes out of it. I had the amp at half volume. I expected to run out of power if I gave it a little more. I was wrong!-plenty of clean power for a small to medium room-compact setup-great sound (does lack deep bass but more than I expected from reading the other reviews)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value, competent performanceI have couple serious HI-FI systems and brought this Dayton set because of good reviews, thinking I will find a use for it.AS PC AUDIO system - might be an overkill, but if you are spending lots of time in front of your PC it will provide great sound. Biggest issue - PC sound card - it gives tiny sound no matter what amp and speakers you use. I have solved this by using HRT Music Streamer II - a little expensive, but worth every penny.MUSIC LISTENING - Dayton set falls little short. I have compared it against Jolida 1501RC tube amp and Quad 12L2 speakers. Bass was really missing, sound was tiny and soundstage pretty bad.MOVIE WATCHING - amazing resolution! Bass still missing, but dialog was better than on Quad/Jolida.Do yourself a favor - buy this little gem instead of garbage like Bose and such.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Budget AudioI just purchased this amp speaker combo, and paired it with a bravo audio tube pre amp and HTC evo as the music source and wow words can't describe it. I have Martin Logan home theater system so I know good sound. But when you compare prices you have to say really. Buy it you won't regret it. Thanks again Parts Express

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic!!For the money the combination is quite good. The amp on the other hand is stunning. Have also hooked this amp up to my Hale revelation 1's and I am amazed. This was a Xmas gift for my college age son. For what looks like a toy, it is truely a serious middle to high end integrated amp. My younger 13 year old son couldn't believe what he was hearing. Although good using a better quality MP3 player as a source, to really get a feel for the quality of this amp, hook up a high quality CD/DVD Player.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great computer audio set-up.I bought a new computer intending to use the audio system from the old computer. The old system developed a hum. I used old headphones for a couple months. Then I saw the T-amp speaker bundle and decided to give it a try.I was surprised by the quality - and the sound is great. A small sub will finish the system off perfectly - but I'm in no hurry as the sound more than adequate with the B652s for now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent Value - Combination lacks bass responseI bought this combo for use in my office. Research prior to purchase indicated that the combo would lack flat bass response, and this has proven to be the case. Clarity of the amp is superb, and speakers convey a relatively broad sound stage, though at times, it feels strained. After proper break-in, things may feel more free. Time will tell. The combo works well for quiet to moderate listening levels. The low power of the amp combine with modest speaker sensitivity limit volume... This isn't to combo to fill a large room with.I intend to modify the input filter on the amp for flat bass response, as well as add a true crossover to the speakers. I shall report back when that project is completed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Superb ValueThese sound great for $60. Use them for my home theater and the bass and highs really come through well. I do not like the sound of mids as much as other reviewers. It feels very lacking. They can get quite loud for small rooms. The 3.5mm cable that is included is too short for any usage, I suggest buying along with your pair purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kickass sound!Got them for an xmas gift and wasnt dissapointed. The only thing I can complain about is the stupid short (6") audio cable to hook up to your device. Buying my second pair right now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Speakers are the weak linkNice deal overall. Sound is average at BEST! It's not the amp that is the weak link, it's the speakers. If you want to upgrade them REALLY EASILY, all you need to do is "plop in" a pair of Vifa P17-WJ 8 ohm woofers or a pair of Silver Flute W17RC38's. They both can run full range (keeping with the spirit of the design), and r WAY BETTER then the woofers in the stock design. Bass and mids will be a HUGE improvement. Comparing my finished speaker (I used the Flutes, a Dayton cap and added more stuffing) to the stock version is LAUGHABLE. Its amazing how bad that stock woofer is---a shouty SCREAMER!Upgrade to a decent 3.3uF cap for the tweet (I use a Dayton $2 job) and you are LIGHTYEARS ahead of the stock design done EASY EASY EASY! Of course, a pair of Vifa's are $70 and a pair of Flutes are $55 so yeah....it costs a bit to make these pigs fly! But THEY CAN!! If you want to add just a bit more complex xover, it would sound even better but I"m trying to keep it EASY!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from NOT BAD NOT GOODI am a loyal parts express customer and love the stuff here. This combo is a great price for what you do get. However I am a little disappointed. The speakers look nice and the amp is cool considering how small it is to put out ok power. BUT.... My Cyber Acoustics CHEAP ($50) sub/sat computer speakers put out WAY better sound!! The bookshelfs are as flat as a board. No warmth unless you place them is just the right spot. Even then needs much eq work on your computer.. As computer speakers I guess you have to place them on the other side of the room, then they sound ok.. and just that only ok..Oh well, live and learn...

Dayton Audio T-Amp and B652 Speaker Bundle

What maximum gauge speaker wire do these accept? And what length is the included 3.5mm cable? Thank you in advance!

Asked by: Siper2
The 3.5 mm cable will stretch about 5 ft. comfortably. The opening for the wire terminals is 0.187", but I would recommend 12 to 16 AWG wire.
