Dayton Audio SWDC12 Dual 12" Subwoofer Cabinet Gray Vinyl
Dayton Audio SWDC12 Dual 12" Subwoofer Cabinet Gray Vinyl is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from drivers can play lower registers almost effortlesslyThe concept of symmetrically opposing subwoofers the way this cabinet is designed to do allows all the energy from your amp to be transformed only into moving air, not wasting it on physically vibrating your enclosure, floor, room or house. You can place your hand on the cabinet during loud passages and feel nearly nothing. You can hear the difference between your other sub as there now becomes more "body" to everything, not just bass. Compared to most other subwoofer enclosures, this one allows the drivers to reproduce the lower registers almost effortlessly, resulting in much more realism. For decades I have kept my eye open for an enclosure whose design doesn't waste power and allowed for the most accurate lower notes. This one's it. The down side is the hole already cut out for their amp, that I do not use (now) whose compartment could be used for the drivers. Conclusion: this enclosure is for vibrating air, not the floor, room or house. This = superb bass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive cabinet!Stout cabinet that is definitely better built than almost anything else on the market for the do-it-yourselfer. Considering the time and materials required to duplicate this in the shop, it's money very well spent. Throw in the excellent job on the vinyl covering at it has to qualify as best buy.

I have one Dayton Audio RSS315HO-4 12" Reference HO Subwoofer 4 Ohm, will two of these woofers work well in this cabinet?

Asked by: Zimm
They will work in the cabinet, but may present too low of an impedance load for most amps. The 8 ohm version of that driver is recommended because of the impedance.

HO HF drivers

2 part question. Can't you wire two 4 ohm drivers and come up with a 4 ohm load?2nd question: Can you use an HF and a HO driver?
Asked by: Roadkingrich
Unfortunately no you cannot wire two 4 ohm drivers back to 4 ohms. We also do not recommend using two different drivers in the same enclosure.

Wiring

Would it be recommended to wire the subs in a push/pull orientation?
Asked by: SSFOS
what to do with 2.1 cuft , two 12 in woofer holes and a ten by ten hole; OPTIONS; recommended dayton 12 inchers and plate amp works well 12's pointed outward..stock. OPTION 2 ,use other woofers that align with cabinet size or close to it . now the idea of push pull comes in to play it increases the cabinet size slightly ie volume of cones pointing inward [one or both] this depends on volume needed .Make ten by ten plate and mount port[s] to plate to match internal dimensions of woofers ,ah more math , external sub amp mounting. OPTION 3; 12 Inch woofer with passive radiator sub amp installed ,good overall design idea! possible idea t3 or tc sound with passive might line up with this cabinet and go boom! DIYer! do some thinking, 10 by10 hole could turn into cabinet tuning extension with port[s] or the amp mount [ did both last week to correct cabinet volume] A black box extension 5 by10by10in for old mtx 12, looks factory rattles the home! YOUR IMAGINATION PLUS PARTS/EXPRESS,PARTS===AWESOME,COST EFFECTIVE AUDIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THESE ARE MY OPINIONS!

Turn amplifier bulkhead into a "window" brace to add 0.75 cu. ft?

Wondering about the advisability of cutting holes in the bulkhead that separates the main enclosure from the plate amp chamber (like the other brace) to add the amp chamber volume (about 0.75 cubic feet) to the 2.1 cubic feet of the main enclosure. I'm not planning on using the SPA plate amps -- I already have 2 of the SA1000s -- I was going to close off the cutout for the plate amp with 3/4" MDF bonded to 1/4" plywood.I know the increased volume will somewhat lower the Q of the enclosure. Any advantages or disadvantages to my plan? Thanks in advance!
Asked by: Audio Guy
build the box to fit the amp mount and liquid nail and screw from the inside for correct spec alignment , and port the parasite box to tune the chamber.. excellent idea

Depth or distance to determine if rear of speakers will touch?

Product description shows depth of 17.5". I'm assuming that is outer enclosure measurement. Meaning maximum speaker (driver) depth allowed would be 8.75" before the drivers would touch back to back inside the enclosure? I have two 12" diameter TC Sound drivers with a depth of 9" each. To fit in this enclosure I'd have to incorporate a 1/2" spacer around the speaker mounting surface?Thank you for your assistance, greatly appreciated.
Asked by: Superchkn
You're quite correct. This enclosure will not accept two 9" TC sounds speakers. Use three quarters inch wood pannels the same size of the front and back of the enclosure. Use wood tacking cement and clamp them both at the same time. This will effectively increase the depth for the TC Sounds subwoofers. Cut your speaker holes before you cement.
