Dayton Audio SWDC12 Dual 12" Subwoofer Cabinet Black Vinyl
Dayton Audio SWDC12 Dual 12" Subwoofer Cabinet Black Vinyl is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from drivers can play lower registers almost effortlesslyThe concept of symmetrically opposing subwoofers the way this cabinet is designed to do allows all the energy from your amp to be transformed only into moving air, not wasting it on physically vibrating your enclosure, floor, room or house. You can place your hand on the cabinet during loud passages and feel nearly nothing. You can hear the difference between your other sub as there now becomes more "body" to everything, not just bass. Compared to most other subwoofer enclosures, this one allows the drivers to reproduce the lower registers almost effortlessly, resulting in much more realism. For decades I have kept my eye open for an enclosure whose design doesn't waste power and allowed for the most accurate lower notes. This one's it. The down side is the hole already cut out for their amp, that I do not use (now) whose compartment could be used for the drivers. Conclusion: this enclosure is for vibrating air, not the floor, room or house. This = superb bass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive cabinet!Stout cabinet that is definitely better built than almost anything else on the market for the do-it-yourselfer. Considering the time and materials required to duplicate this in the shop, it's money very well spent. Throw in the excellent job on the vinyl covering at it has to qualify as best buy.

Dayton Audio SWDC12 Dual 12" Subwoofer Cabinet Black Vinyl

I have a pair of Titanic MK2.s. Will they work well in these cabs?

Asked by: reco
Yes they will work in these cabs, although the rubber gasket will probably need to be removed from the woofer in order for it to fit properly in the cutout.

This cabinet has the 10x10 cutout for the plate amplifier, If I would use these cabs, I would go passive, thus not needing the cutout. Is there a way to purchase this enclosure without the amplifier cutouts?

Asked by: johnstms
No, these subwoofer cabinets are only manufactured with the amplifier cutout. However, you can make a cover plate for the amplifier opening that will seal the amplifier hole tightly with a rigid panel, and then drive the subwoofer passively if desired.

I have four TC Sounds Epic 12 subs, &am interested using a pair of these cabinets for a pair of dual-opposed subs. The Epic's overall diameter is 12.6" & the outer drillout in this cabinet is 12.44". what's the best way to mod the cutout for the epics?

Asked by: johnstms
You may be able to use a rabbeting bit (with bearing) in your router to enlarge the upper section of the hole, then use a pattern following bit to follow the larger hole cutout and cut away the remaining material from the smaller diameter hole cutout. However, please note that your results will be dependent upon your woodworking skill and the suitability of the tools you are using, and you cannot return a modified product, as the warranty will be voided.

Will this box work with jl audio w1 v2 speakers? I've already got an amp from parts express years back. It's powering 4 jl audio w1 v2 12s now....Just wanting to slim down my home auto some from 4 12s to 2 12s and still keep some of that hard hitting bass

Asked by: Reichman77
As long as the frames of the subwoofers fit the recess and cutout dimensions for the enclosure online those subs will work very well in this volume. You can expect in room response to reach the upper 20's relatively easily.

I have a question about the grey vinyl on the cabinet: Is it possibly to spray paint the vinyl a different color? Is it possible to veneer over the vinyl? If not, is it possibly to remove the vinyl or order the product without it? Thanks

Asked by: applekid
I would not recommend trying to paint the vinyl, I think your best option would be a peal and stick type laminate over top of the existing veneer.

I would like to use the new Dayton Audio UM12-22 12" in a cabinet like this one. I know this cabinet will not work for a pair of these speakers. Will PE offer a cabinet like this one that is designed for 2 UM12-22 12" drivers in the future?

Asked by: Kurt12
Unfortunately there are no immediate plans for this type of enclosure with the Ultimax woofers. Since the UM frames are larger than the reference frames, they will not fit this enclosure without modifications.
