Dayton Audio SWC2-VI 2.0 cu. ft. Subwoofer Cabinet Black Vinyl

All SWC cabinets use the Dayton Audio B-REX removable/replaceable baffle exchange system. The 1" thick MDF blank baffles are custom-cut by the user to fit a given driver and amplifier, and are then fastened securely (permanently or not) into the enclosure. These stout, CNC-cut boxes are constructed from 3/4" MDF side panels backed up by a 1" x 3" cross brace, resulting in a rigid, well-damped subwoofer cabinet. Finishes match the popular Dayton Audio speaker cabinets—polished gloss black lacquer, and lush natural cherry or maple hardwood. A new high-value textured black vinyl covering is available for projects that demand a more understated appearance while enjoying the benefit of greatly reduced cost. Note: These cabinets do not have cutouts for amplifiers or woofers—you will need to cut your own holes per your design. Each enclosure includes two black satin finish baffles (one each, front and back) with mounting hardware, a magnetically attached grill, and four rubber feet fastened by 6 mm barbed inserts. The barbed inserts are compatible with Dayton Audio cone spikes, available separately.

Dayton Audio SWC2-VI 2.0 cu. ft. Subwoofer Cabinet Black Vinyl
Dayton Audio SWC2-VI 2.0 cu. ft. Subwoofer Cabinet Black Vinyl is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, sub is very happyThe product is very solid, the baffles in the picture look like they are only held by four flaps but they actually overlap the edge of the box so it's a very tight seal that is very easy to glue when holes are cut and final.I was also concerned about the hardware leaking air but the box is completely tight.I cut holes for a TC Sounds Epic 12 and a Bash 300 plate amp and glued the front baffle in place. Great match. I had the sub in a smaller box before and it was choking and wasting the subs power. Now the sub moves effortlessly and the deep slingshot effect from rolling bass travels through the house yet sounds clean and powerful and for me, most importantly flat with no exaggerated notes and a pretty even flat response. A more powerful amp would be nice but truthfully in this studio space at the levels I use it I do not ever see the need. The sub can be heard at neighbors houses even at low volumes.I have the subwoofer on a stand about ear level behind me and my studio monitors. I use it for reference purposes and have the filter tuned way low and the amp turned down so the overall sound is pretty flat and effortless. This is not a studio sub enclosure by any means but it's doing what I need it to and I"m very pleased.

cant this be ported?

I want to use this enclose for a Dayton 12" reference ho. I put the driver specs and box size into bass box and the numbers looked good. With two 2" flared round ports 8.31 long I ended up with a F3 of 27.97. If I went with a single 4 inch I would have to use a 90 in the box and don't want to do that. What do you guys think about this setup. I'm just learning this design process, so thanks for any advice.
Asked by: cmerrill
With only two 2" ports you will likely have port noise without much power applied. One 4" port will be better suited for this.

Is acoustic stuffing recommended?

Acousta-stuff is advertised as improving the bass; should I add some and how much to this cabinet?
Asked by: TShifrin
Yes, it would definitely make sense to put stuffing in. It would add to the bass sound and would help prevent vibration.
