Dayton Audio SA25 25W Subwoofer Plate Amplifier

This ultra-compact 25-watt subwoofer amplifier offers the perfect amount of power for any small subwoofer system. It delivers a real 25 watts RMS of power, which is not an exaggerated figure like found in most typical multimedia systems. With a solid 25 watts, it has enough oomph to reach 100 dB with many drivers. Measuring only 6-1/4" square, the 25-watt amp will fit in even the smallest enclosures.

Specifications: • Measured power output: 15 watts RMS into 8 ohms @ 0.1% THD, 25 watts RMS into 4 ohms @ 0.2% THD • Signal to noise ratio: 90 dB (A-weighted) • Power requirement: 120 VAC • Dimensions: 6-5/16" W x 6-5/16" H x 2-9/16" D • Enclosure cutout: 5-1/4" W x 5-1/4" H.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great for my application!I bought this to power 2 of theDayton Audio TT25-8 PUCK Tactile Transducer Mini Bass Shaker 8 Ohm.My plan was to create a Throne Thumper of sorts for my drum throne. I already own one of the Pearl Throne Thumpers, but it is very heavy and the amp is too large to be connected to a throne..... I wanted something compact enough that I could leave everything attached to my throne all the time. It works perfectly. I just take an aux line out of the mixing board to get the signal to it! Works very well and is much more compact and the cost was about a third of a real Pearl throne thumper. Now, as long as it lasts for a while!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dayton 25 watt subwoofer ampWonderful! I am going to order another one for my main setup. Adds just enough punch for a small system in my bedroom. But without it the sound from the soundbar was lacking the bottom it needed to make the viewing experience cool You guys are the best for top end at reasonable prices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid small plate ampI've used this little amp for 6+ years with my Tang Band W6 in a 2.1 computer setup. It's always worked and has the basic adjustments needed for your average sub setup. I've never had it shutdown or fail to work in anyway. With extended listening at higher levels, it does get warm though. I actually used an old computer heat sink and small fan for some additional cooling, mounted with some thermal adhesive pads to the flat area under the level and low pass knobs. I know that probably isn't needed at all. But like a lot of people that frequent this site, tinkering is what we do.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits the billI purchased this to power a custom 8" non-powered sub. No problems with installation and connection. I wired the dual cone 4 ohm speaker in series. I get plenty of bass. No frills, just a stable 25 watt amp. Four stars because it does not have auto sensing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Revives an old HTIB passive subwooferI purchased this plate amp in the last month to drive an old Sony 6 1/2 passive HTIB sub that I picked up at a thrift store. I needed more bass for my nearfield computer speakers, Optimus STS 55's driven by a Dayton DTA-1 T amp. The Sony sub fit within the base of my Ikea desk. I built a simple wooden box (vented on top and bottom), placed the Dayton SA25 amp in it, and attached it to the back of the subwoofer. Awesome sound improvement! Before, bass only went down to 70-80 Hz. Now the bass guitar, bongos, and other bass comes to life! Probably good to ~40 Hz, a big improvement. The sound fills my 10x12 office and the plate amp barely gets warm even though the sub impedance is 3 ohms. Highly recommended!

could i just use the high level inputs only? cant use high level out. satellites wires are in wall which are 4 ohms each speaker. if using the high level inputs only, will the amp still see a 4 ohm load?

Asked by: george56
Yes you can use only the high level inputs. The input type does not effect what impedance the amplifier will see.

Is this the right amp for the set of 4 puck tactile tranducers, Part # 300-389? If so, will just one amp be enough, or will I need another one?

Asked by: Walter in Hawaii
This amp will power them, but in order to use them to their full potential I would recommend the SA70 instead.

Building Voxel subs, system uses Lepai which powers small TV soundbar. What would be best option for input to the plate amp? Split the RCA outs from the TV (one to Lepai, the other to plate amp RCA in) or connect using speaker outs from Lepai?

Asked by: atticwing
In order to control the subwoofer volume level with the Lepai amplifier you will want to use the speaker level inputs and outputs.

Does this need to be a certain distance from the sub magnet? Also, should the plate be warm even after gain set to off (light off) but plugged-in all night? Thanks.

Asked by: dawer
There is no minimum distance from the subwoofer magnet, it will not effect the amplifier. It is normal for the plate to be warm even when turned off.
