Dayton Audio SA25 25W Subwoofer Plate Amplifier
In ceiling passive sub?
I want to mount this amp in the wall behind my entertainment console. The sub it will be connected to is at least a 25 ft run away. Will this set up work and is this a enough wattage for a 10 inch in wall that has been ported?
Yes - it will work. There are a few reasons to NOT do this however. They are:1) is it legal regarding your local wiring code? IF you mount it ON the wall with the 115vac line cord 100% outside of the wall AND put some kind of strong plastic or metal box protecting the other side of the unit (in the wall) -my guess is that it will be OK and not void you home fire insurance if something causes your house to catch fire.2) is the 25ft run of speaker wire going to affect the bass performance of your sub? Yes it will a bit. Wire resistance will change Q of sub a small amount - making bass a tiny bit more boomy than a 2 foot length of wire would. Tuning of the port and boomyness of ceiling structure will be much bigger effect. Use 12 guage wire typically sold for 12 volt lawn lighting - should be good.3) porting a wall / ceiling mounted woofer only works if you have a true sealed enclosure in the ceiling cavity (except for port). This is hard to do unless you install a box you built (above the ceiling.)Good luck

How much do the speaker level inputs deteriorate fidelity?
I have the DTA-2 amp, and B652 speakers setup. I would like to add a subwoofer to this, and obviously have to use the speaker level inputs to do so. How much will this color or deteriorate the sound quality to either the subwoofer or to the B652s?THANKS!
The distortion would be equal to the feed of the imput. This is a clean little unit.

Would this work on a 5.1 setup with dedicated subwoofer channel?
I see that the amp has stereo input: two RCAs, left and right each. Can this amp be used with dedicated a dedicate low frequency input (the 1 in 5.1) from a receiver or sound card? If yes how?
The SA25 reflects a time-honored design that users are finding reliable. I have used it and its "cousins" many times. Now, the sales price makes it a great value. The amp can produce full rated specs from a single dedicated sub-woofer output of a 5.1 system. There are a few ways to do this. The simplest is to use either the left or right input and ignore the other. You can also use an RCA 'Y' connector or otherwise bridge the two inputs, but there is no need to do so. Since the amp is mono, both channels end up at the same place.

What kind of subwoofers do you carry that are compatible with such a small amplifier??
What if I wanted to set up a small book shelf sort of system with a corner subwoofer (not big) behind my couch and I have one of the Dayton Audio SA25W sub amps? What kind of woofer would I want to buy to be used with this small an amp. This would just be used for a small room and only light music.
This unit is designed to drive small subwoofers, such as those referenced below.

Can it be easily modified to run full-range?
I would love to use these in small bookshelf speaker applications where there speaker already has a cross-over network. Can the low-pass feature of this amp be bypassed in any way? The least expensive full-range plate amplifier that PE sells is almost 3x more expensive than this, making it prohibitively expensive for my budget applications. Thanks!
Yes! I've done this simple mod. You cut the first wire (looking from left to right) in the ribbon cable going from the lower PC board to the Top PC board. This is the direct input to the power amp stage. You can place a small SPDT switch to toggle the operation from sub-woofer to full range. You may need to experiment with an AC coupling capcaitor range going to the main power amp stage. A 1uF works OK.Always work safe around AC powered devices.Have fun!

How do you wire the dayton audio SA25 ampto a passive subwoofer
On the back side of the amplifier, the side with no buttons, knobs, or anything else, you will find a single red wire and a single black wire. These are the output wires to your subwoofer. You connect the red one to the positive terminal on your passive subwoofer, and the black one to the negative terminal.
