Dayton Audio SA230/VS8 Subwoofer System Amplifier Bundle

Dayton Audio's VS8/SA230 package includes a modern low-profile subwoofer and a powerful stand-alone amplifier, for a combination that promises to be heard but not seen. The Dayton Audio VS8 was designed and engineered to work specifically with the SA230 amplifier for clean and punchy bass that enhances any home audio system.

The VS8 subwoofer system contains an 8" long-throw dual voice coil driver. The complex bass reflex design utilizes a flared port to produce much more bass than expected from such a small enclosure. The omni-directional dispersion characteristics and shallow enclosure of this subwoofer facilitate limitless placement options. The VS8 fits between wall studs, and is easy to install (requires a Dayton Audio VS8IG in-wall mounting kit, coming soon!). Place underneath or behind furniture in a down-firing position using the included rubber feet, which elevate the subwoofer and protect surfaces. The VS8 is finished in a dark brushed aluminum-look vinyl wrap that complements any décor.

The Dayton Audio SA230 amplifier delivers all of the clean, solid power required to drive the VS8 to its full potential. Its tabletop design is compatible with many other popular electronic devices and different styles of multimedia furniture. This amplifier is engineered to provide high fidelity subwoofer amplification and is tailored for home audio and home theater audio systems. Its variable gain, bass boost, crossover frequency, and phase adjustment guarantee perfect integration with any audio system in any listening environment. Short circuit and thermal overload protection are included.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good alternative to a black boxSurprisingly good with clean response down to 40Hz. Works well if it is close to the listener. The only alternative I've ever seen to that large black box our wives hate.

How do connect the amplifier to my onkyo receiver n what type of cable do i need

Asked by: Kimmi
This amplifier has RCA inputs, your receiver should have an RCA output for the subwoofer. You will need an RCA male to male cable in order to connect the two.

Want to buy the combo package SA230/2VS8. Can the subwoofer amp talk to the subwoofer wirelessly? If so what do I need to make that happen?

Asked by: JEEE
No, there is no way to wirelessly send a powered signal from an amplifier to a subwoofer.

I keep seeing Wall mounting kit coming soon. Is it available? If not, can it still be mounted in a wall?

Asked by: DoubleD
The kit is due to be delivered on 8/5/2014. These can still be mounted in a wall but you may have to fabricate your own method of mounting.

Does anyone know what is the THD of the amp at 50% of its rated power?

Asked by: Zandaril
The total harmonic distortion at full power is 1% [as stated], so the THD at 50% power is going to be less than 0.1%. Both of these numbers are very low and you would need an oscilloscope to measure the tiny clipping of the waveforms. This is a very good package [intended for out of the way locations] and you will not notice distortion of any kind--that is unless it's pushed beyond it's power limits. Really, THD is only a concern above 1-3%. Looks good to me though.

hooking up the amp with 8ohm speakers

I have 8ohm out from my amp L and R going to the L and R of the subwoofer amp (HI level in). I then have the subwoofer out 4ohm min going to the subwoofer which is pre configured for a 4 ohm config with the jumper cable. I power on the amp, play some music but its not working. what am i doing wrong?
Asked by: scooby snack
This is a good question. Remember, that the amplifier is set up so that the high level in & out is red top=+ and the bottom is black=-. At first look I thought the tops were banana plug spacing. Yes I'm confused as well. Try the old style test for all inputs & outputs---Hook up your sub out (on the right# to your subwoofer--then use an RCA out of your main amp to the RCA inputs #center#. If still no signal, tap the RCA plug#main amp side) with your finger and see if it barks. After many years, I still can't see the obvious. This is a good Sub setup and It's unlikely to be DOA. Good Luck!!!
