The RS722 speaker system features two of the most popular Dayton Reference Series drivers: the RS28A-4 1-1/8" Aluminum Dome Tweeter, and a pair of RS180S-8 7" Aluminum Woofers. A carefully tuned crossover design composed of premium capacitors, inductors, and resistors integrates these world-class drivers. Dayton Audio® loudspeaker kits are designed to offer the speaker-building hobbyist truly high-end sound quality and aesthetic appeal. Because they are based on the Dayton Audio finished loudspeaker cabinets, the appearance of these systems is world-class. Your choice of three beautiful exterior surfaces (gloss black, cherry, and maple) and two styles (straight- or arc-sided) is sure to blend with any decor.

All engineering from cabinet to crossover was done in the U.S.A., ensuring Dayton Audio speakers will faithfully reproduce the music that you know, with tonal qualities that you prefer. Strong bass and a very smooth top end without unnatural midrange glare are traits common to all Dayton Audio designs. The superb performance of these speakers is guaranteed; the choice of which one is for you should be based on cabinet size, output requirements, driver preference, and personal cosmetic appeal. Although Dayton Audio kits can be assembled by a beginner in one or two hours, the speaker systems' acoustical performance reveals their superb technical pedigree.

Since these speakers are in kit form, you will realize substantial savings by building them yourself. All woodworking has been done; assembly consists of securing drivers and ports, attaching damping materials, and wiring the crossovers and drivers. The process does not require expensive tools or measurement equipment—a general knowledge of electronics is helpful but not required. Crossover networks are completely pre-assembled and ready to connect to the drivers and input terminals using the supplied wires and push-on terminals. No soldering required!

Dayton Audio offers a completely new level of quality previously unavailable in commercially available loudspeaker kits. All of the critical aspects of high-end loudspeaker design and manufacturing have finally been combined into the ultimate DIY kit-building experience. You can own a finished speaker system rivaling those found at exotic high-end salons, and best of all you'll be able to say "I built it myself!"

Dayton Audio RS722CCK Speaker Kit Curved Cherry is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best speaker set I currently ownJust made this pair about 2 weeks ago...sound is fantastic, and it really could not be easier to make a speaker than this. I am no woodworker or craftsman at all, so partially chose this because I would have a speaker set up and running quickly (crossovers already constructed) that I thought would also be good value for money. I am very satisfied. Now they are not cheap of course, so I suppose they really should be good, I mean > $800 for the pair puts them up against some quite good commercial pre-made speakers, but these are the best I have heard so far, and worth the money from my standpoint. Better than any commercial speaker I have tried myself. currently have them in my bedroom, so they are maybe bigger than needed in that I have also bought and made the 621 speaker kit, and they are also excellent! This 722 kit, with bigger cabinets, are actually a little easier to work inside the cabinet themselves, for example putting the damping foam in and so on, but really both kits make it as easy as I can imagine for the sound quality that results. Both speaker cabinet sets are also well made and the veneer looks to me of high quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Top Notch kit with some annoyancesLet's start saying that I live in Chile. 10.000 miles away from you guys, so risking myself to all the things that could have been wrong is a true act of faith in PE!!The order was shipped on time, the packaging was very good and the shipment instructions were accurately fulfilled. Logistics got an A+.But, the assembly instructions are simply horrible. I would prefer to receive nothing instead of such poorly printed sheet. No photos, just a diagram of the crossovers and lots of text. If there wasn’t a video of a different model assembly in PE website, this task would had been very hard. Both cabinets full assembly took me three hours, it can be made in less time but I didn't want any mistakes. You need a mallet, a philips screwdriver (#1 & #2), the allen tool is supplied with the cabinets. A hot melt gun is a must because the crossovers and lining fixings are way much easier with it.Speakers and crossovers are of a very good quality. The marks for the connection of the woofers are a little bit confusing. One very annoying thing was that one of the connecting cables was missing; I made a new one from a piece of speaker cable.Let's talk about the final product:The assembled speakers do look great, my Wife is very pleased with the way they look. I was replacing a pair of Polk's Monitor 40 and these speakers are impressive and at least double the Polk's size. The finishing looks expensive and blends perfectly with my leather furniture.I cannot properly judge the sound yet because I'm just breaking them right now, but I can say that they got better and better within a couple hours. After just 4 hours of use the sound is very well balanced, the bass is surprisingly deep and loud. I was listening last Sade's bluray in "pure direct" mode and you cannot tell where the crossovers points are, the quality of the design is remarkable. Just to find a flaw I can say that I would have preferred them a little brighter, but mainly this is because I'm 50 years old guy and my eardrums have suffered lots of dBs from Led Zeppelin to Daft Punk. Probably a younger person would find them perfect or even bright.Summary: Top Notch kit with some annoyances that didn't affected the final result. I'm very happy.

Dayton Audio RS722CCK Speaker Kit Curved Cherry

What is the depth of the cabinet one spot says 14.4 in complete kit and the other says 14.8 "Cabinet dimensions do not include grill" in the cabinet only version.

Asked by: Michael84
The total depth of this cabinet including the grill is 15.315" according to the spec sheet of the cabinet itself, adding baffle and grill depth. The depth without grill is 14.84".

Can this be done with soft dome tweeters?

Asked by: TomWib
We do not offer substitutes for these kits. The crossovers are only designed with the aluminum domes in mind, so they would require changes as well.

Read 722 user manual and noticed that the parts list shows quantity of 1 for the RS18OS-8 woofer. Please verify presence of this errata.

Asked by: TomE
I see a quantity of two for the RS180S-8 in the manual for this kit.

I am wondering why this kit is priced at $423.89, while the 722 fully assembled curved maple speakers are less expensive at $419? Also the assembled maple curved speakers are designated as either a "left" or a "right" speaker, but not the 722CCK. Why not

Asked by: TomE
I have passed the pricing question to management. The reason the kit is not offered in left or right versions is simply because the baffle just needs to be flipped during assembly for whichever side you need.

In the video the person says that the kit contains everything necessary for TWO speakers!!

Asked by: frank54
The video refers to the RS621CCK kit which is used as a generic video for all our kits.
