Dayton Audio RS150-4 6" Reference Woofer 4 Ohm
Dayton Audio RS150-4 6" Reference Woofer 4 Ohm is rated 4.3684 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great resolution but hard in the midsNice little 6" driver. Very good quality for the price. I built a pair of speaker with the Vifa dual ring radiator tweeter. I did the crossover at 3K. The speaker is very high resolution but I have a nasty midrange peak that I can't get rid of. It may not be the driver's fault. It may be my crossover design or something or the .23 CF box. I may keep trying to make it right or may ditch them and try another driver.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Overall SpeakerI used these to replace my OEM Audi/B8 speakers as it had a factory amp and these speakers were ideal for the watt/rms required. Good overall speaker, and produces adequate mid/bass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great replacement for BMW E46 HKUsed this speaker as a replacement for my BMW M3 E46. Works great. The polarization question mentioned in one of the other reviews can be solved by connecting your old speaker to a battery (like AA) and noting the direction the cone moves for a given battery polarity. Repeat with the new speaker. Match the speaker terminals so that the new cone moves in the same direction as the old one. Happy Installing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from tough auto location solveI bought these speakers to replace the rather specialized and highly distorting HK's in my BMW 330CiC door. As hard as BMW tried to inhibit upgrading their speakers these were a pleasant drop in replacement. I am not sure I polarized them right because of the lack of clues in the BMW but they are clear and strong sounding. That's just what I was trying to accomplish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT MIDRANGEI BOUGHT A SET OF THESE DRIVERS TO USE AS MIDRANGE'S IN A LARGE,FLOOR STANDING,3-WAY MONITOR SYSTEM. IT IS CONSTRUCTED VERY WELL WITH A CAST ALUMINUM FRAME AND RUBBER SURROUND AND IS ALSO QUITE ATTRACTIVE TO LOOK AT. SINCE IT HAS A LARGE ALUMINUM CONE I THOUGHT IT WOULD DO VERY WELL IN THE FEMALE-MALE VOCAL RANGE WHEN COUPLED WITH A 15 INCH CAST FRAME, HIGH EFFICIENCY, PRO SOUND DRIVER THAT CUTS OUT AT AROUND 40HZ. IT, ALONG WITH THE SELENIUM HORN TWEETER DID INDEED TURN OUT TO BE A REAL PERFORMERS. I KNOW YOU MIGHT BE THINKING MY SYSTEM HAS NO LOW BASS BUT THATS WHAT SUBS ARE FOR. AS FAR AS REPRODUCING THE FREQUENCIES I WANT TO BE REPRODUCED, I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MY HOMEMADE MONITORS. DOING IT YOURSELF IS A GREAT WAY TO SAVE MONEY, BUT ONLY IF YOU HAVE PARTS EXPRESS' HIGHLY AFFORDABLE BUT HIGH QUALITY DRIVERS TO WORK WITH.EVEN IF MY SPEAKER DESIGNS GET BORING, I CAN PULL THE DRIVERS OUT AND TINKER WITH OTHER SPEAKER PROJECTS TO KEEP ME BUSY OVER THE LONG WISCONSIN WINTERS. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Used within it's limits CAN be very satisfying!Folks,...get some test equipment, maybe a modeling program, and you won't have any problems. This driver won't play LOUD!!! That is not it's intent. At low to moderate volumes, (within the rated power recommendations)with an amp that has good headroom so as to not introduce any unwanted distortions at higher volumes, this is a very clean, revealing, little inexpensive driver. I used these in a small bookshelf design with with a silk dome and individual 12dB crossovers made for the application (the actual points escape me at this time) using Solen caps and 18g aircore inductors, for my work office space. A small sub using a Dayton SD215-88 DVC and the SA100 amp with the crossover set to about 70 Hz rounds out the drivers. I have people, customers, walk in all the time and ask me if I can build them a set. I use no EQ, and everything sounds clean, vocal reproduction is fabulous, there a (very)small peaks, but are overall extremely flat. Never mind FOR THE MONEY! Don't try to play parties with these and, you too, will appreciate what they are capable of.

how would these work in a car audio application

In the doors of my 1997 subaru legacy. i am planing on starting a new system and need some mid ranges
Asked by: T MAC
Our Reference Series speakers are quite popular among mobile audio enthusiasts, and generally do a very good job. Using this particular model as a midrange should be fine, so long as you realize the limitation in high frequency output. The useable frequency range is going to extend up to about 3k, so if your tweeters can cross lower than that, this should be an excellent choice.

What would be the optimum enclosure for this speaker?

Asked by: hmarkison
.53 cubic feet in a vented enclosure with a port tuned to 40-50 hz use a flared port at least 2" in diameter and 5"-5.25" in length...that should get you really close....I would probably tune it to more like 43hz wich will make your port length somewhere in between 5.25" and 5.50"...hope this answers your question
