Dayton Audio QEX19 Quadpod Self-Amplified Sound Exciter

Plug in your MP3 player, iPod, or iPhone and the Dayton Audio QEX19 Self-Amplified Sound Exciter turns virtually any solid object into a speaker by vibrating it at speeds of up to 20,000 cycles per second. Built-in amplifier allows you to put sound virtually anywhere! Now that's something to get Excited about! The vibrations modulate the air, which is then decoded by the brain as sound. Imagine your baking soda volcano backed up by real volcano eruption sound effects, or have soothing backup music playing while you give your science fair hypothesis narrative.

Hundreds of cool uses! Each stick-on Self-Amplified Sound Exciter is designed for a wide frequency response and great sensitivity. Strong 3M adhesive pads affix to nearly any solid surface for secure, long-lasting playback. Package includes one Dayton Audio Quadpod, 2 X AAA batteries, and an attached 75 cm (29.5 inches) 3.5 mm male stereo audio cable for plugging into your MP3/iPod unit.

Dayton Audio QEX19 Quadpod Self-Amplified Sound Exciter
Dayton Audio QEX19 Quadpod Self-Amplified Sound Exciter is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Convenient, Mediocre Sound, Lots of DistortionI may have expected a lot from this device, but expecting semi decent sound from it, is going to disappoint you. I moved it around to find the correct spot to no avail. I mainly use it on my laptop to augment the sound. Listening to the news or anything with just voices is OK. Music is another story.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mini Self-Amplified SpeakerThis is a really cool product for turning anything, like thin plywood or wood into a speaker. I tested it before installing and it can be really powerful with just a simple MP3 player. I wish more specifications were included such as frequency range.

There is a jack for external power. What is the VDC and tip polarity?

Asked by: BatRastard
Hmm. I do not see a power-jack. I do see batteries and covers. It would be easy to solder an external 3-5V power supply to it for continuous use. But I suspect as novelty as this device is, the batteries will last long enough for most applications.

How many watts does this item put out?

Asked by: TimP
The amplifier in this exciter on average will have about 1 watt of output power.
