Dayton Audio's ND91 aluminum cone full-range drivers are the latest addition to the acclaimed ND Series high output/low distortion neodymium transducers. By increasing the original ND90's voice coil diameter from 3/4" to 1" and adding a copper alloy shorting ring, the ND91-8 features even lower distortion and delivers better bass impact and dynamic range—with peak Xmax up to 25 mm!

This high-BL version further exploits the low distortion characteristics of the Neo-Balanced motor's optimized magnetic field, making the ND91 drivers an excellent choice for full-range point-source speaker enclosures, as well as extremely accurate, high resolution line arrays.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I didn't know cones could move like this!I purchased this along with a Visaton 3.5" full range driver and used them in a project for my electrical engineering course at university. I supplied it with roughly 15-20 watts of power and was jamming out in my apartment until my neighbors told me they were too loud! This thing is the size of a baseball!!A little lacking on the treble frequencies, but paired with another full range speaker it sounds unreal. Absolutely incredible bass delivery without even placing it inside of a proper enclosure yet. I'm buying another one and making myself a sweet bluetooth dock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Are you serious?!!!I am currently experimenting with several different drivers (ported and sealed) to use in a new center channel speaker I want to build. This little guy is unreal! When I put it in the ported enclosure, I couldn't believe my ears. Don't get me wrong, it's not a subwoofer, but for its size it is surprisingly strong. Furthermore, I never knew you could get highs as clear and loud as it plays without having to have a tweeter. When they say this is a full range speaker, they mean it. Good job Dayton!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected!I picked up four of these little guys for some desktop speakers. I was looking for generous amount to low bass so that I would not need, or miss, a subwoofer. I also used two inch diameter ports from Precision Sound Products, really wanted to make sure I'm getting the most out of it! Hooked it all up to an APA150 and success! REW measurements (Avg of near, medium, and far listening positions) show I have usable bass response all the way down to 38hz! My WinISD mockup showed me that the bass would roll off at 55hz. I'm glad it extended further down. Now I just need to go eliminate that 180hz resonance...These are wonderful speakers with lots of low frequency potential. I recommend these to anyone looking for big sound in a small package.

I´m planning to build a single enclosure with four of these ND91 drivers and four ND20FA-6 (or similar) like an line array. The box should be as small as possible and I will have a MiniDSP to control the EQ and filtering. How small can I make it?

Since you will have DSP I would recommend sticking with a sealed enclosure for the smallest volume. A total volume of 0.18 cubic feet will work well for four of these drivers and provide an F3 of 130 Hz.

You gain 6 dB of output whenever you wire two identical drivers in parallel. I would recommend 0.25 cubic feet for both with a 2" diameter port that is 5" long for a tuning frequency of 66 Hz.

I'm building a line array using 8 of these in a .8 cu. ft. box. I'm using subs and bi-amping using a BSS omnidrive DSP crossed about 100hz or lower. Can you help with tuning?

I would recommend a single 4" diameter, 5" long port in this volume for a tuning frequency of 68 Hz. I would also recommend fairly heavy stuffing in the enclosure for this application.

What internal volume and port size would you recommend for four of these drivers in a project similar to the "micromax"? What knockdown or premade cabinet would be most suitable?

I would recommend 0.3 cubic feet total with two 1.75" diameter, 9" long ports for a tuning frequency of 70 Hz.

I was wondering what the smallest possible inclosure I could use with two 3 1/2" passive radiators for the lowest tuning Frequency

The recommended enclosure for this combination would be 0.0422 cubic feet which is 5.5" x 5.5" x 4.6" external using 1/2" material. With no weight added to the passives you will have a tuning frequency of 65 Hz and an F3 of 90 Hz.

I would recommend 0.3 cubic feet total with a 2" diameter, 8" long port. This will tune the enclosure to 55 Hz.
