Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent qualitygood solid mids, more than acceptable bass bit a little lacking at the very top end, but even then.. acceptable tops..however, THEY NEED TO BE BOXED..! no box, no fun.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Expected more.I bought these speakers to replace dash speakers in my truck. My truck has a custom sized speaker in the dash that does not accept any traditional sized speakers. This was a very close fit so I figured I would give them a try. The power handling is also very close to the stock speakers. The midrange of these speakers is spectacular. Voices come through clear and loud. Midrange instruments such as guitars are very clear as well. The problems come in the high range and the low range. For an extended range speaker they do not play high frequencies very well. Snare hits and cymbals are almost inaudiable. That is okay though because my separate tweeters pick those up fine. The real problem comes with distortion at higher listening levels. These speakers distort with the lower frequencies and can sound pretty bad. I am thinking that if I put caps on them they may sound a lot better and give extra power to play the highs. Much of this could be do to the speaker environment. Since they are in the dash of a truck they are not in a sealed environment.I can not comment for use in home audio, but I would not recommend for car audio use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great full rangeI used four of these speakers in a sound bar, each in a separate sealed box about 0.05 cu. ft. each. Firstly, these are some very well made speakers. They look nice as well. Surprisingly, I got useful bass response down to about 65 Hz. surprised by how little the drivers distorted, even at full excursion, which doesn't take much to reach by the way. Needs a little bump in the higher frequencies, but very detailed. Overall very well built.

amp port length question for my enclosure

Can i run two of these with a dta-2 amp?my enclosure is .04 cubic feet. If i want the best sound and bass from these should I port the enclosure? if so, what diameter and length? Thank you very much for the help.
Asked by: knic
Those will work OK with that enclosure with a 1" diameter, 4" port. This will tune the box to 100 Hz.

is a tweeter required to get good, clean, crisp highs
Asked by: speaker freack
A tweeter is not required, this is purely subjective.

8-element line array

I'd like to build a line array using 8 of these drivers. I'm thinking of a vented cabinet of 0.64 cu. ft. What size port would you recommend in such a configuration?
Asked by: Faxon
I would recommend a 2" diameter port that is 1.75" long for a tuning frequency of 60 Hz.

Enclosure size with two speakers?

I see the optimal sealed enclosure size is 0.08 ft3. So for two speakers I guess I need 0.16 ft3. Is it better to split that volume into two 0.08 ft3 spaces (one for each speaker) or can I mount them both into one larger space?
Asked by: entomophile
There will be no audible difference between the two, either way will work fine.

Anybody knock the mag shield off these yet? I'm tucking these into...

small orbs and need to remove them.
Asked by: John Langdon
These do not have a two piece magnet assembly, it is all one neodymium magnet. The reason they are considered shielded is simply because a neo magnet is self shielding by nature. Unfortunately there is no way to make these shallower.
