Dayton Audio MTMC-0.75CH 0.75 cu. ft. MTM Curved Speaker Cabinet Cherry

If you want to create a loudspeaker without investing the time and money building one from scratch, these cabinets are the answer. Dayton Audio pre-made enclosures eliminate the time-consuming and messy steps of cutting wood, assembling the panels and bracing, gluing veneer, and finishing. Using Dayton Audio speaker cabinets will guarantee superior results every time. 3/4" MDF side and back panel construction is reinforced by a 3/4" MDF "shelf" brace running vertically up the sides and across the top and bottom. The entire cabinet, including the rear, is covered with a very rich, genuine cherry wood veneer with a semi-gloss finish. The baffle is 1" MDF with a black satin finish and rabbeted construction. It offers the flexibility of the B-REX replacement system and comes pre-finished without any driver cutouts. The grill is secured to the baffle by neo magnets in line with the machine screws that fasten the baffle to the enclosure. Two 1/4" holes on the back simplify installation of Dayton Audio knock-in binding posts. Attractive curved-sided design is extremely rigid and solid, with minimized panel resonance. Complete with baffles, hardware, and grills. Add crossover parts, port tubes, damping materials, binding posts, and your drivers to create a complete system rivaling the appearance of the most lavishly presented audiophile speakers.

Dimensions: 20" H x (8" Front, 4.5" Back) W x 14" D.

Note: Cabinet dimensions do not include grill

One of the most innovative features is the exclusive Baffle Replacement and EXchange (B-REX) system, which allows the front baffle to be easily removed for prototyping and construction. The satin black finish baffle has 4 pre-drilled holes for machine screws that line up with matching threaded inserts, to secure the baffle to the cabinet. The baffle can be installed or removed an infinite number of times. This is great for initial driver cutouts, allowing the work to take place on a piece of flat stock, rather than on a finished cabinet.

Thanks to the B-REX system, if you are uncertain whether your speakers are complete, the machine screws by themselves can be used to hold the baffle in place. Once you are ready to finalize the design, they then act as clamps too hold the baffle in place while your glue is setting. Blank baffles are available separately, allowing further possibilities in terms of using a single cabinet for multiple pairs of drivers. As you can see, the versatility offered by the B-REX system is unmatched in any other pre-finished cabinet!

Dayton Audio MTMC-0.75CH 0.75 cu. ft. MTM Curved Speaker Cabinet Cherry
Dayton Audio MTMC-0.75CH 0.75 cu. ft. MTM Curved Speaker Cabinet Cherry is rated 4.3333 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Real BeautyThis is an excellent, well built product, very attractive to look at, and I have a hunch that the curved sides bring out the very best that a given speaker has to offer.I encountered one problem that the manufacturer should investigate. Upon cutting the holes in the baffles, I discovered I had made a mistake in the tweeter opening, so I ordered two replacement baffles, a really excellent feature provided by Parts Express. However, the replacement baffles were very slightly too wide for the cabinets, and I had to sand the inner sides of the new baffles down to make them fit back into the cabinets. This was not an easy task. They should have fit out of the box.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from High value speaker enclosurePreviously I have made all my speaker enclosures, spending many weeks on a project to get to the result. This is the 1st time I have purchased ready made enclosures and I am delighted in the way the speaker goes together so quickly. I have been able to make working speakers in just over a week of working evenings and a long weekend. Compared to building yourself enclosures these offer high value, it would have taken a month for me to build an enclosure to this level and I would still have to apply a finish. The speakers are not sold in matched pairs so the veneer do not match exactly, it has similar color. The outside of the enclosure are finished to a high level, costs have been cut on the insides, for instance the front baffle mount has paper shims to pad out the poor fit of this component. Be careful when cutting the paint on the front baffle, I found mine chipped a little around the drive unit cutouts even though I put masking tape over the entire surface before routing. I plan to redo and score the paint first; hopefully this will work better than masking tape.I put some extra holes in the internal brace as this has a large surface area which in my case was immediately behind the mid/bass drive unit.I am using these enclosures with a 7 drive unit with a 2 Precision port both these items are a very close fit as the width of the baffle is only just wide enough to support the 7 drive unit, the same is true for the rear panel for the flared port. The curved enclosure is very appealing both from a sound point of view and cosmetically, I would highly recommend these enclosures they offer very good value for money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well designed and beautiful to look at.This beauty arrived well packed and without a scratch. The enclosure is well braced and the bolted front baffle is great help as you put together your design and any adjustments made to your design after those first listening tests. The cherry wood veneer is gorgeous and well finished. Those curved sides are beautiful to look and help reduce standing waves in the enclosure. Very well thoughtout design. Thanks.

Unfortunately we do not have any finished cabinets that will be any taller than this model. We do have some knock down enclosures available, but they will need to be assembled and finished. The model below will be the closest option and is 32-1/2" tall.

What size drivers are appropriate for this enclosure volume?

Was thinking of a 6.5" MTM, but would the 0.75 cubic foot enclosure be large enough? Seems the baffles would be fine at least. Would a port be recommended? (for monitoring, not home theater)
Asked by: AdamC
The optimum enclosure volume is based on the specific properties of a driver, not necessarily just the diameter. This baffle would accommodate most 6" drivers, and some 6-1/2" drivers, but you'd want to look closely at the actual overall diameter of the driver you choose. The included grill is only about 5-1/2" across, so keep that in mind as well. A driver with a Qts of 0.4 or lower lends itself to a ported enclosure, where a Qts higher than 0.4 will perform better in a sealed enclosure. Using the Qts, Vas, and Fs, you can get a good idea of the proper enclosure volume with a speaker enclosure calculator. You can simply do a Google search, or give us a call at 1-800-338-0531, and we'd be glad to help you with a specific driver you might be interested in.
