Dayton Audio ME650C 6-1/2" LCRS 15 degree Angled Ceiling Speaker
Dayton Audio ME650C 6-1/2" LCRS 15 degree Angled Ceiling Speaker is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bass, nice crossover, ok mountingI've had 5 of these for about a year and they sound great, good bass and solid design. I was previously a home theater installer and must say these are a great speaker for the price and it's what I put in my home. Only gripe is the plastic mounting tabs can be a bit weak if you aren't careful. I'm not sure anyone would be willing to pay more for stronger mounting tabs, but just be very gentle, as I broke a few (4 of 28 some tabs) and jb welded them back together.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice projectInstalled these to replace some long time used tower speakers, have nice clear sound , not thumping low end but decent for use as home cinema at moderate volume levels.

What is the minimum air volume for these speakers?

If we wanted to build a rear box for these free air speakers (because they're in an unheated attic, what is the minimum volume we need to make the box?
Asked by: Ocelaris
Building a back box for inceiling speakers that are open back, is always a good ideal. It helps protect the speaker from unconditioned attic space as you said. But it may also be required by the local fire code (you might not have even thought to check that). As an installer, I'm finding it fairly common to have to use either a speaker with a UL listed enclosure or build an approved back box for the them. 100% of new construction I work on, requires this.Having a back box also insures the sound is consistent from speaker to speaker (something you can't guarantee just mounting an open back speaker in the ceiling). To answer your question: The parameters someone would need to figure the exact airspace, are not given. But! You can easily build a 1 cubic foot enclosure to fit in the area where these speakers are likely to be mounted. And that should be more than enough airspace for these speakers.

Center Channel

Does Dayton offer a Center Channel ceiling speaker with the micro-edge? i cant find anything and it seems odd to omit this.
Asked by: Torbs
The ME520MTM is NOT an in ceiling speaker. You can use the same speaker for left, right center and surround....hence the "LRCS" in the model name.

Asked by: Harry the Greek
