Product Details

Dayton Audio ME620C 6-1/2" Micro-Edge Coaxial Ceiling Speaker Pair

Fill your home with rich, audiophile-quality sound from Dayton Audio's Micro-Edge Series coaxial ceiling speakers, while offering a modern, stealth look for today's contemporary décor.

Tough woven Kevlar cone woofers were selected for their inherent transient response quickness and ability to convey a warm response in the critical midrange, while delivering a bass punch that is missing from most ceiling speakers.

1" silk dome tweeters provide pristine clarity for the top end of the frequency response spectrum. Additionally, ME620C ceiling speakers may be used as rear and/or side channel speakers in surround sound applications. Two full sets of grills, one round and one square, are included.

All Dayton Audio Micro-Edge Series speakers are timbre matched to provide the best possible home theater experience.

Dayton Audio ME620C 6-1/2" Micro-Edge Coaxial Ceiling Speaker Pair
Dayton Audio ME620C 6-1/2" Micro-Edge Coaxial Ceiling Speaker Pair is rated 4.8571 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fast shipping, easy installation.I bought these about two months ago, and they are nice. I have not heard them yet, but putting them in was a breeze, and they blend right into my ceiling. It was so easy to install them that I had my teenage son do it. One feature I particularly enjoy is that the covers are magnetic, and they include both a round one and a square one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Real good ceiling speaker. ButI was confused. I thought this had the adjustable direction tweeterIt does not, but that is no biggie... I have bigger problems with a 13' ceiling bouncing off hardwood floors that distort. I have some big rugs already coming, and that should help. This is a new home with a 5.1 ceiling prewire . I've got a Dayton 12" floor 120volt subWOOFer that will round out the room (or kick out the windows!)Great product. Please wire well- don't skimp on gauge. And drive them with a decent av receiver.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy install!Bought eight pairs. Install was a breeze and the micro bezel looks great. Magnetic grills make it easy to pain around if needbe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't beat Dayton for in-wall/ceilingI use Dayton in-ceiling speakers almost exclusively. I've been very happy with the Ultra series in higher end installs and the Contractor series where budget is more of a concern. We installed these speakers in the restrooms of a high end restaurant. The owner liked the look and sound of the Ultra series, which is what he was originally supposed to be getting. When he saw these speakers, he was incredibly pleased with how sleek they look and actually asked how much he owed me for the "upgrade". Even more importantly (to me), build quality is equal to the Ultra series, which is fantastic. Midbass is tight for a 6-1/2" driver, highs are clear and crisp. As with all in-wall speakers, if you're using a drill, set the clutch on a very low setting or you're going to break the tabs off

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best I've seen in this price range.I have installed a wide variety of in-wall and in-ceiling speakers over the years as a custom home integrator, and I have yet to find a better value than the Dayton units you see here. Most speakers in this price range sound muddy and distorted with a hint of raspy tweeter. These speakers, on the other hand, were surprisingly crisp with a fairly well defined lower end. The build quality is good, and they include round and square grills to suit your particular installation. The low profile grills look just as good as any of the other brands out there, and they have a great crossover network built in.The only thing I found on this product that worried me a little was the dog ears (mounting tabs). They are thinner than some of the other brands I have used in the past, and could possibly be prone to breaking if they are tightened too much. I don't know if it will turn into a problem or not since I didn't have any issues when I installed them myself, but it is something to think about when you tighten them down (don't use a drill). To sum up: These are great speakers for a great price, and will make a wonderful addition to your next system. I have no reservations recommending these for surrounds, for background music, or for any other purpose that requires an in-wall speaker.

i have been considering these as an automotive speaker. would you recommend them or would they not perform as well as one designed for the automotive environment?

Asked by: charlesri
These would not be a good choice for an automotive environment simply because of the mounting requirements and the tweeters are not removable.

Size recomendation?

I want to install ceiling speakers in a room W 12' x L 18' x H 8'. I want to know which size speaker would be better for the size room I have...6.5" or 8". Any input would be much appreciated.
Asked by: NewB
For a room that size the 6-1/2" would be plenty for normal listening levels. If you tend to turn up the volume or like to boost the bass knob a bit the 8" would be a better choice.
