Product Details

Dayton Audio ME525MTM 5-1/4" Micro-Edge MTM LCRS In-Wall Speaker Each

Dayton Audio’s Micro-Edge™ speakers were created to combine the high-quality sonic performance of a premium free-standing speaker with sleek, contemporary in-wall styling, for a thoroughly modern take on the in-wall speaker. The ME525MTM model uses dual woofers and a centrally-mounted pivoting silk-dome tweeter, for a speaker with symmetrical dispersion that can be mounted vertically as left/right/surround channel speakers, or horizontally under a display or projection screen as a center-channel speaker. The low-profile perforated grill with ultra-slim Micro-Edge™ frame almost disappears into the wall entirely, and is easily paintable to match its surroundings.

The dual 5-1/4" woofers feature woven black Kevlar cones that provide excellent transient 'snap' and crisp vocal clarity along with impactful bass, and the 1" silk-dome tweeter delivers rich detail that never becomes harsh, even at high volumes. The pivoting tweeter mount lets you target the best treble performance directly at the listening position, and the three-position room integration switch lets you decrease treble output if desired, for the best balance with your room’s natural acoustics.

All Dayton Audio Micro-Edge™ (ME-series) speakers are timbre-matched for a seamless and consistent home theater experience when used together. The ME525MTM is perfectly sized to fit between studs in standard 16-inch stud spacing when mounted horizontally as a center channel speaker. No additional adjustment is required for horizontal mounting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product!I bought this center channel to finish my home theater system in my living room. This speaker is installed in conjunction with two Dayton Audio in wall speakers and two Dayton Audio in ceiling speakers to complete a 5.1 system. The template that came with the speaker made it simple to install. Build and sound quality is excellent. I definitely recommend this speaker.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from About As Easy As It GetsJust finished install yesterday(12/4/14). After setting everything up I have to say that the sound quality is above what I was expecting. I'm changing from a 2.1(boxed) to an in-wall 5.1 using all Dayton Micro-Edge speakers & an old M&K MX80 sub. In my medium sized room(about 13'x23'x) these were able to fill the room with plenty of sound at an effortless pace. I have my high pass/low pass xover set to 80hz @ 12 & 24db/octave respectively. Everything is powered by a B&K AVR507(150Wx7). The additional headroom from the 507 I feel adds to the punch that is in place from these speakers. For the center channel, I ended up having to fabricate a mantel above my fireplace as the support structure behind the drywall did not leave enough depth(in the center of the fireplace at least) to mount this unit. The mantel is approx. 2.1cu' and sealed from the listening area. There is also a vent into the wall that is approx. 3"x4" in size to help the speaker "breath".If I had to upgrade this unit in any way there would be two small modifications. First, the mounting hardware should be a bit more sturdy. I didn't have an issue but know others have. Second would be a new pivot for the tweeter. While they are adjustable, they are not very smooth & some were downright difficult. Will have to wait and see about long term performance & reliability but initial impressions were very good. My old monitors(about $3k/pr) are now in a dedicated 2ch room. I was surprised at just how close these Dayton's performed above 80Hz in comparison. They aren't on the same level of course but the performance overall was very surprising considering the cost difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sounds Great!I built a mantel with space for a center channel speaker inside. The cavity is approximately 2 sf3 but not well sealed so the in-wall speaker was an affordable choice. It sounds great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sounding speakers!I used these in my Den for Rear surround and am very happy with them! I love the fact that the 1" tweeter in these is "aimable". I aimed them both at my recliner and when I listen to music, its like wearing headphones that you can't feel on your head! Great sounding High's and Mid. The Bass isn't bad either. Combined with my other speakers, my little Den sounds great! Great for surround. I would even use them for Center and Mains! (with a good Sub of course).

I tried painting the grill with wall paint and they look bad.  Is it possible to get a new grill?

Asked by: willmop
Unfortunately we do not have replacement grills available for these, you may have to strip the old paint off and start from the bare metal. We do recommend spraying them for the best coverage.

How well do these speakers work if the wall is filled with insulation instead of an open void? Which would be the preferred installation?

Asked by: SteveW2
These will work equally well for either application. As an infinite baffle install the insulation will do very little in terms of changing the Q of the chamber they are mounted it. having insulation will not negatively effect performance.

My TV is mounted on a hollow but enclosed wall underneath the stairs.  Would mounting all three speakers (Left, Center and Right) on this wall alongside the TV cause adversely impact sound quality, as there is no isolation on the rear between the speakers

Asked by: HarryS
No this will not negatively effect the sound you will get from the speakers.

Looking for the felt that's inside speakers we purchased through you on or about 6/7/14.  We misplaced them when we painted the speakers to match the wall.

Asked by: Cawelch10
This is not something we sell separately. You should be able to get a thin similar material from a local fabric store that will work in a similar fashion.
