Dayton Audio DS215-8 8" Designer Series Woofer Speaker
Dayton Audio DS215-8 8" Designer Series Woofer Speaker is rated 4.7143 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Klispch CF-2 speakers 4 perfect replacements!!!!!I had an old pair of klispch CF-2 Version 1 that 3 of the 4 woofers hadfell apart and upgraded with these Dayton Audio - Dayton Audio DS215-8 8" Designer Series Woofer Speaker and is an amazing combination. Theseseamlessly blend with the Klispch CF-2 horn and the soundstage is stunning. The Daytons are faster and more transparent than the factor woofers that looked like cheap plastic junk.I would also like to give a big shoutout to the PartsExpress team that took myphone call Job well done!!! Service is A-plus and thanks for taking the time tomake sure the speakers would not only work but also fit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good WooferThis is a very good /value woofers... You can use it in small enclosures with good bass and good efficiency . But i don't like the glossy paper cone , and the basket is very thin. I use twin of them in a 3 way center loudspeaker and I will paint the cone with a mat warnish !!Thank you Parts Express for the delivery and for the replacement of the damage speakers ! Very good job

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Far exceded expectationsAll I can say is that these woofers have rocked my low budget world! I wanted some speakers to fill some old Cambridge Soundworks boxes I had lying around and I tell you I could not have made a better decision. I have my computer connected to a Fiio E9 acting as a pre-out which is then connected to a Lepai 2020A+ and these woofers pound! I was honestly thinking of upgrading to an actual amp so I could connect a subwoofer and now that I have these things I honestly don't need a subwoofer. When these are properly placed in a room at a decent volume the bass will blow you away. The mids are crystal clear as well. Would recommend 100 times over!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't be fooled by pricey driversThis driver was paired with a tang band 28-847SD almost perfect match, made two boxes with simple box calculator software (free online) and bam great sounding speakers. I have been a mackiefan for years (monitors). who would have thought I can do bettermyself for less than half the cost of one speakerNote to creative types get a crown XLS - 1000 and bi-amp mono

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet SpeakersI bought a pair of Realistic Optimus T-110 speakers at a pawn shop because of their great looking cabs and completely gutted them of the previous drivers, crossovers, and l-pads. I looked around for woofers and these caught my eye. They look awesome, sound awesome, and have appearance matching passive radiators as well. Paired with the Vifa silk tweeter and a custom crossover, built with help from the members of the forum, these speakers sing. Highly recommended toward anyone looking for a well built, great sounding woofer.-Julian

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sounding WooferThis is a very well built, good looking, reasonably priced and excellent performing woofer!I have this woofer paired with a Dayton Audio DC28F-8 1-1/8" Silk Dome Tweeter, and crossed over at 2k Hz using a Dayton Audio XO2W-2K 2-Way Crossover in a .80 cu. ft. sealed enclosure. This combination works very well for all types of music, and sounds very accurate in the mid bass and vocal frequencies. You may wish to add an L-Pad in line with the tweeter due to it being just bit more efficient than the woofer.

powered sub?

how would this driver perform as a powered subwoofer?
Asked by: munki114
Not that well, it would be hard to get this driver to play under 40hz. The best enclosure for this driver I could come up with would be a 1.2 cuft ported enclosure tuned to 38hz, it should get you into the mid 30's. It might do ok for a music system but not for home theater.

How would this sound in a .91 cu ft enclosure?

Given that I think it wants a .7 cu ft enclosure, would the physical dimensions of the woofer, and the tweeters I have sticking out a bit compensate for these to sound good? I really like the 90db efficiency of these woofers.
Asked by: CoreyL
You don't say whether you intend to use them in a sealed or vented enclosure. This woofer will sound good in either type of enclosure at .91 cu ft, if you follow the manufacturer's instructions as to dimensions and (if vented) porting. The size enclosure you specify is not outside the manufacturer's recommended size for either type of enclosure.

I have a pair of bose 301 speakers that need the woofers replaced will these fit the bill?

Asked by: jtee1947
Do the woofers need replaced because the voice coils are damaged - or is it the speaker surrounds that have rotted? You can get a surround replacement kit from PE. Changing the woofers is more complicated than matching the diameter... You need to make sure the woofer matches the cubic volume of the cabinet and port, as I believe is the case in the 301. If you are adventurous - search the "woofer selection guide" on PE and look at the volumes for ported speakers - this is a good start. Otherwise, repair the surrounds or call technical support during normal business hours.

im looking to rebuild some AR tsw-410 is this acceptable enclosure to put them in,? also any rec on new x-over?

replacing AR tsw 410 original 8 inch driver as well as the mid range woofers and the x-overs are fried as well any recomendations greatly appreciated
Asked by: metalmaster
It sounds like all you have left are some cabinets. Normally, with a classic speaker - you can refoam the edges and they are good as new. Ini this case you have a choice - try to find drivers that match the interior cubic volume of the cabinets you have or start from scratch. You need to determine the cubic volume of the woofer enclosure and mid enclosure, and if the bass is ported or sealed. Then search on PE "WOOFER SELECTION GUIDE". You can search through all the woofers and find those matching the volume you have - and see if the performance matches your goals. From there - you can buy a pre-built 3-way crossover.... Unless the cabinets are perfect in furniture quality - I would suggest that you put them aside and build a good 2 or 3 way system from scratch. There are kits, cabinets of many sizes and all the drivers you will need. That way you have a great new project without the boundaries inflicted by an existing old cabinet. Mind you - if more of the old speaker was intact - an upgrade/ / fix would be worthwhile.

I need to replace the woofer in my JBL HLS810

Would this be a good replacement?
Asked by: vsdi
Yes this will work well in the enclosure type, you will have to verify the physical dimensions to make sure you will not have to modify the cutout or not.
