Dayton Audio DC28F-8RD 1-1/8" Silk Replacement Diaphragm
Dayton Replacement Dome
I have a DAYTON DC28F-8 1-1/8" SILK DOME TWEETER and the diaphragm is damaged. I purchased (from PE) a Dayton Audio DC28F-8RD 1-1/8" Silk Replacement Diaphragm however it does on fit into the original face plate. How do I replace the diaphragm?
This is the exact replacement for the DC28F tweeter. I an sorry to say that if it does not slide in around the perminant voice coil magnet then it (replacement diaphragm) may have gotten slightly out of round.Occasionally when a diaphram goes bad, and you remove it, some residue from the old one is left in the gap. This will not allow the replacement to slide into place. Check for this and and if you find debris gently remove it being careful not to scratch or mar the surface in any way. This will affect sound production.I often use a Q-tip and solvent just to make sure the gap is clean. If it is out of round, you can gently guide it into place but if it is too severe then it will not work well. This is why they are packaged so well.Good luck.
