Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved my sub!Bought this to replace the OEM driver in my subwoofer as the foam surrounds had degraded. Manufacturer no longer supported so I was flying blind. This was a 'best guess' replacement and sounds great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A definite upgrade in sound quality!First, I am a repeat customer as well as an audio enthusiast going back to the 1970's! Parts Express have not ever disappointed me! I have called them for advise on rebuilding speakers and other questions and they are always friendly, patient, helpful, and talk in language a common person can understand! And they actually listen to the customer! Their processing is super fast and the shipping fast and the order expertly packed! They are top notch in their support!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rebuilt Sony SSTL-1 transmition lines and they rock ballsThe low end is ridiculous when coupled with these transition line cabs. I get smooth response down to 30hz range, yet they still maintain crisp mids. With the right cab these will do any old cab some justice and they wont fry your delicate electronics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great SoundThe shielded version ended up not fitting my speaker box so I exchanged them with no problem and the unshielded version are excellent in sound and responsiveness. Solid deep sounds and mellow tones are wonderful. Good value for the price and Parts Express outdid themselves with the advice and exchange process.

Dayton Audio DC160S-8 6-1/2" Classic Shielded Woofer

I have an old pair of EPI T/E 70 bookshelf speakers (mid 1980s?) and the foam surrounds are shot. Would these speakers work as a drop-in replacement, or would I be better off replacing the foam surrounds?

How would 4 of these model out in a 1.15 sealed cabinet? Also, in a ported enclosure, and last but not least , port dimensions please. Thanx.

Asked by: Frenchy
Sealed is not great, F3 is around 90 Hz. Vented works out perfectly however, with a port that is 3" in diameter and 9" long you will have a tuning frequency of 40 Hz and in room response into the low 30's.
