Dayton Audio DC130BS-8 5-1/4" Classic Shielded Woofer
Dayton Audio DC130BS-8 5-1/4" Classic Shielded Woofer is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Excellent Woofer for the moneyI got this woofer to replace broken woofers in a pair of broken bookshelf speakers. I they did not fit but with enclosure modification, I made them fit.The Performance is really good on these woofers. they sound nice and handle bass well. They sound really nice for the money. I do recommend these woofers for any speaker builders looking for a nice strong woofer that is cheap. The build quality of these woofers are also nice. The Only downside I see to the product is that the speaker lead tabs are the same size, however it was not an issue for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ValueI used these woofers to replace the stock 5.5 X 7.5 6-ohm woofers in a Mustang s Mach 460 sound system. I have another Mustang with the same sound system for comparison. They are installed in the doors. They are wired in parallel to an 85-watt amp. The low-pass signal to the amp starts to ramp down above around 1000 hz. I fabricated adapters from .5 inch MDF. The result is fantastic in comparison to the stock woofers. Bass is tight and clean. I am very satisfied with these woofers, and I will be upgrading the other Mustang s sound system with them. One of the speakers had a loose voice coil that was slapping at moderate volume and up. Parts Express promptly shipped a replacement. Great customer service.

Paired this woofer with a DC28FS-8 tweeter. Pioneer SX-780 amp 45 watts RMS I can only go just past 50% before the woofers start having issues.  Is the amp putting out more watts than rated or should I use a diff woofer?

Asked by: Subtrauma
Half way on a volume knob for most amplifiers is reaching full output power. These woofers will thermally handle 45 watts as long as the excursion is under control. Most small woofers will reach their mechanical limits before they reach their thermal limits and that is probably the case here.

? does this driver compare to the truncated version

how does this driver compare to the truncated, very difficult to flush mount, DC130AS-8? could this driver, the DC130BS-8, be substituted for the truncated version without X-over mods?same question regarding the non-magnetically shielded DC130B-8?if there are differences, between either/both of the "round" drivers, what modifications would be required to a X-over designed for the truncated DC130AS-8 like the one X-over used in the Wayne's DIY Dayton HT speakers?
Asked by: Axel Chris
These are interchangable, the only difference being the frame shape.

box volume for four of these in a two way project for five speakers in a home theater set up and if ported please add port and speaker displacement.

Asked by: frankr
Recommended box size is 1.48 total cubic feet after displacement, so build it to 1.52 total. Vent size is 3" in diameter and 2" long. This will tune the box to 51 Hz.
