DATS (Dayton Audio Test System) V2 is the essential tool in any speaker designer's or audio engineer's toolbox, providing accurate, precise measurement data for any audio transducer or loudspeaker system. DATS V2 is a unique, multipurpose test system that works with your PC and full-featured test software to measure the impedance response of a speaker driver and derive a complete set of Thiele/Small parameters that describe its operation. It's as easy as connecting a driver and starting the test! The DATS V2 measurement module provides the electrical stimulus to the driver, measures the driver's impedance on the fly, and then creates a high-resolution graph (30,000 data points!) with no additional hardware required.

DATS V2 software is the true power of DATS. The included software not only measures impedance and parameters of speaker drivers with incredible accuracy, but it can also measure the true value of inductors, capacitors, and resistors, and it also works as a signal generator and scope to let you monitor small electrical signals (line-level only).

What's better about Version 2?

NEW in the DATS V2 software are the ability to measure Wright Parameters (Kr, Xr, Ki, and Xi) for precision speaker simulation, and the ability to display and print impedance data using a logarithmic scale. The precision of capacitor measurements also gets a boost from the newly added ability to measure ESR, dissipation factor, quality factor (Q), and loss angle (sigma), for complete characterization of passive components.

The new DATS V2 hardware eliminates warm-up and cool-down times, and is more stable than the original DATS, for uninterrupted measurements. It's also recognized instantly and configured correctly by your PC with no lengthy setup. DATS V2 also complements other, more expensive test gear by being easier to set up and use, and much more portable -- you can plug DATS right into a laptop! When used together with Dayton Audio OmniMic, you can take a fully-featured electro-acoustic lab anywhere you go.

I measured quite a diverse field of speakers and devices and found the accuracy to be excellent and consistent. I found the versatility exceptional. Measuring passive x-overs components quickly is a plus and reverse engineering of factory constructed crossovers is a breeze. This measurement kit is one of the simplest to set up and run. Hobbyist to pro's will enjoy the solid simple performance of the Dayton Audio DATS V2 Audio test system.

I was ignoring my wife, didn't feed the dogs, couldn't remember my baby's feeding schedule, forgot to take out the trash, my roof was leaking, etc. I was spending all of my time acquiring loudspeaker data for crossover simulation. Now my marriage is back on track.Ok, ok, it's not that extreme. . .but it could be. I have Windows 7 running through VMWare on a Mac so I was really nervous about it working properly. Set up was a complete breeze, and really fast! From the time I opened the box, I had reliable loudspeaker data within 5 minutes. And the cherry on top was that without any formatting . . .at all. . .the zma file imported directly into PCD.Thanks DATS.

Dayton Audio DATS V2 Computer Based Audio Component Test System

Could measuring ribbon tweeters damage the hardware (short @ low Hz) or the ribbon (sweep Hz & volts)? If measuring tweeter with cap, can you do a 2nd ZMA of the cap itself that can be deducted from the tweeter ZMA (in PCD or FRB) to get the raw ZMA?

I trying to design a cabinet for two woofers? but the measurement is only for one woofer or connect the two woofer, as in the case of a DVC woofer. I excuse my English but I speak Spanish, Thanks you.

As long as both woofers are identical (same brand/model/size/etc) you only need the parameters for one of the woofers in order to calculate and enclosure. Most programs should allow you to change the number of woofers in the box in order to calculate for two.

Is there any possibility to use this device over 20 khz? What does the audio codec support? And is it only useful for large woofers, or can I also use it on miniature speakers?

Is there a limit to the impedance this system can measure on the upper end?  I was interested in this for measuring my electric guitar pickups, as well as my speakers, and guitar pickups can at their resonance peak get to around 1 mega-ohm.  Thanks!

I was able to measure the free air speaker resonance for a 6.5" speaker. However when I try to measure the Vas using the added mass method I keep getting the message "added mass is less than recommended for this driver ..". I have use 432gms
