Dayton Audio's DAEX32EP-4 Thruster exciter is built to turn large, thick, rigid surfaces into speakers. The 32 mm voice coil is attached to a steel spider for maximum restoring force when large amounts of power are applied, making it perfect for large glass panes, furniture, and surfaces that would normally resist the effects of an exciter.

A neodymium magnet is employed to create maximum magnetic flux around the proprietary voice coil for increased sensitivity when compared to similar sized exciters. In turn, this reduces power requirements and makes it possible to use very small Class D audio amplifiers, without sacrificing total output.

To ensure maximum acoustic energy transfer between the transducer and the surface to which it is attached, 3M VHB (Very High Bond) adhesive is pre-applied to the main body ... just peel and stick! Two male spade quick-disconnect terminals are built onto the main body for quick electrical connection.

Note: An exciter's frequency response and sensitivity are completely dependent on the exciter's designated surface. Thinner, smaller materials will tend to be louder and create a mid/tweeter response. Thicker, larger materials (with multiple exciters) will be slightly quieter but result in a more full-range sound.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Excellent Performance................but!I've been using a pair of these exciters for a few days and their performance is quite impressive.While sitting back and enjoying music, one of the exciters made a buzzing sound as if the voice coil came loose from the panel.I pushed on the offending exciter a little and the sound cleared up only to quit altogether. After checking with an ohm meter I discovered an open voice coil.P.E. has a forum about exciters and there have been other complaints with this same issue.I think Dayton Audio may need to check into this with their supplier in China.If in deed there is a technical issue with voice coil connections,fix it!Dayton Audio has a good reputation for quality products, they need to keep up to speed on all of their products, both domestic and foreign.I have to say my experience with P.E. has always been a positive one. I talked to Tomin technical service and explained the problem with the exciter. Tom listened to me and has offered to replace the exciter, no return necessary.This is an excellent company that stands behind their products!I would "love" to rate this product with a 4 or possibly a 5 for it's good performance.......maybe next time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A really nice sounding and reliable exciterThis "Thruster" is a top quality and durable exciter. From the second I took it out of its packaging and felt its solid and heavy construction I knew it was a top notch and well designed product.It has proven to be durable and very good sounding on a 24" x 30" - 1 inch thick XPS panel. Noticeably better sounding than other exciters I've tried and reports from other forum members confirms its performance to an even larger sample of exciters.If sound quality (at the expensive of reliability) is your top priority, and while this is VERY GOOD SOUNDING, the Dayton Audio DAEX32U-4 "Ultra" model easily surpassed this model (on XPS) and represents current state of the art in high fidelity DML panel sound.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very promisingStill testing by simply placing on panels of different sizes and densities. So far, sound quality is amazing. Will make a wonderful pair of full range hi-end speakers at a ridiculous fraction of the cost!

I'd like to mount these in boat lockers with a PolyPlanar marine stereo, specs: Freq Response 20Hz to 20KHz: SNR 85dB: Max op power: 45W /channel x 4: RMS Op Power 25W /channel x 4: Normal Consumption 7 amps. 4 speakers @ 4 ohm. Will these work for this?
