Dayton Audio CS622C 6-1/2" Stereo Ceiling Speaker

A dual channel speaker enables the placement of a single unit in small areas such as bathrooms, hallways, walk-in closets, and kitchens. This minimizes expense and maintains stereo integrity throughout the whole-house audio system. A dual voice coil design allows both channels of the stereo signal to be directed to a single speaker. A 6-1/2" polycarbonate woofer with rubber surround is utilized for the mids and lows, while left and right mylar tweeters round out the highs. Retrofit design allows installation in both new and existing construction in just minutes. System includes: removable steel mesh grills, built-in mounting brackets, hardware, and installation instructions. Sold individually.

*Note: Remove and discard the 1/8" perforated ring that connects the center "painting grill mask" and the outer "mounting template" before attempting to use the templates.

Dayton Audio CS622C 6-1/2" Stereo Ceiling Speaker
Dayton Audio CS622C 6-1/2" Stereo Ceiling Speaker is rated 4.4286 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Filling the Room with soundMounted four (12" x 12" x 5" boxed) in the ceiling and paired up with Lepai LP-S60 4x25W Desktop Mini Amplifier. The speaker dual inputs were tied together to lower the impedance. Sounds great at comfortable volumes. I will add a sub woofer to this speaker set to enhance the crash, boom, bang to my TV audio.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice speakerBought this to install on my front porch so we can listen to music and watch the kids play in the front yard. It sounds good and I didn't build a box for it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what I expectedI bought 3 of these. I installed 2 in a customers house and I was going to install 1 in my personal house for my wife in the bathroom. The sound quality was very poor. It didn't have any low end. I have installed many other Dayton Audio speakers and I have been happy. These I would not recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I couldn't believe my ears!!!I bought this speaker to be installed in a small bathroom. I wasn't sure what to expect from it but given the other reviews I have to admit I did want it to sound good. When I first got the speaker I quickly hooked it up to the Lepai LP-2020A+ that I ordered with it. I plugged my phone into the amp to quickly listen to an mp3 file. Was I ever disappointed, BUT I knew it needed to really install it properly before I could make a judgement call.As part of my bathroom reno I had the luxury of having full access to the ceiling without drywall. I put a small box together and installed it in the ceiling to house the speaker. Once the drywall was in I hooked it up again and WOW, WOW, WOW. What amazing sound came out of this speaker. I could not believe my ears. How will I ever leave my bathroom now???

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent choce when dual-channel makes senseIn new construction, I installed these speakers in my master bathroom (wall mount), and ceiling mounted in a very small office, covered deck (2), garden courtyard soffit, and garage. The sound is quite good and makes more sense in these locations than two stereo speakers. They are unobtrusive in appearance and sound good with no distortion at high or low volume. I have each speaker on a separate Dayton volume control and am very satisfied. Highly recommend.

Dayton Audio CS622C 6-1/2" Stereo Ceiling Speaker

I want to install ceiling speakers but my ceiling is quit thick. I have the existing plaster and lath and then new 1/2" sheet rock over it. Will the Dayton ceiling speakers fit in my ceiling? Do I need to make any modifications to the mounting brackets?

Asked by: collin826
The thickest the mounting tabs will allow is 1-1/2".

I'm looking to install one of these speakers in a small bathroom.  The space above is attic.  I was planning to build an enclosure. Do you have any recommendations on enclosure volume/size to be consist with the designed frequency response. Thank you.

Asked by: Workman67
There is no reason to build an enclosure behind the speaker, these are designed to be used infinite baffle (IB) and you will get smoother bass response with no chamber.

Wiring with Lepai LP-2020A+ ?

I am new to the concept of single stereo speakers and want to make sure that this speaker could be wired up to the LP-2020A+ amp by simply connecting each channel to the correct terminals on the speaker.
Asked by: banzaii
Yes this is correct, wire each set of terminals to the outputs on the amplifier.

Wiring 4 to one volume control

I'd like to wire 4 of these in my basement into one volume control knob. How is this done with this speaker? I see two sets of terminals on each speaker. So does that act as an input and output?
Asked by: jojo86
This is actually a dual channel or stereo speaker. It is intended to be fed both the right and left channel signal at the same time. There are some different ways to wire this type of thing up, but the type of volume control will have an impact on how to wire it correctly.

How would I wire two of these to a stereo amplifier?

I would like to install two of these in a lobby connected to a DTA-100a. How would I wire the (4) terminals so that I don't present an unsustainable load to the speakers while still maintaining the stereo signal at both locations? Secondarily, is the DTA-100a a good choice for this application?
Asked by: theorymatt
There is no easy way to wire these for stereo sound using that amplifier. Your best option is to use something like the Topping TP20 or TP21 and wire each speaker in parallel on each channel for a 4 ohm load to the amp.
