Dayton Audio CCS-33B 3-Way Center Channel Speaker Black
Dayton Audio CCS-33B 3-Way Center Channel Speaker Black is rated 4.434 out of 5 by 53.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Buyer Beware, Missing Sounds!I've owned this center for the last year and thought I enjoyed it until I just purchased a different center and realized I've been missing a lot of sounds in movies with the smaller dayton! If you're planning on using this for movies/music, I highly suggest saving an extra 50 to 100$ and buying a 2-way center channel that has at least 5.25" woofers–watch my video and you can easily hear how much the dayton is missing.I'm still going to use this speaker for the outdoor patio, but no longer for movies, that's for sure!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good loudspeaker at a great priceI purchased these to be use on either side of a computer monitor to provide a cosmetically nice look and decent sound. They are replacing boc loudspeakers (Boston Acoustic A40 ca 1980) They can stand on their end without tipping or be mounted vertically on the wall beside the monitor with the included bracket. They don't do deep base - but I have a sub for that. Sound-wise - I was mainly interested in their near-field cohesiveness. And for this the worked well. They have a fully extended high frequency response and play fairly well - though I estimate they are only 84dB/Watt sensitive. The high quality binding posts are wider than standards - so you will need to use single banana jacks for you speaker leads - or bare wire. The included speaker wire is a joke - 22 gauge I think. Use something better. Note they also include an adhesive rubber pad to go between the mounting bracket and the loudspeaker - a nice touch.I swapped them for my main speakers in my home theater system to see what they could do. I cranked my sub crossover up to 100Hz and everything filled in nicely. I could see these a L+R+C + REARS in a Home theater system. Overall an outstanding value - just add a sub (or two) and enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very clear dialogue for very little money! We moved, and now my main TV is 5 inches above a fireplace mantle, so I need a very short center channel. Missing my old BIC DV62, I bought a BIC DV32 and it was muddy, midrange heavy. I thought about gutting a commercial soundbar into a single speaker, or building my own, but thought I'd give this one a try. MUCH better clarity and power handling than the DV32 for about the same price. With a 100hz low cut at the reciever and a bit of HF boost, this is pretty powerful for its size and very clean past my range of audibility (the second tweeter is a piezo). If you have limited vertical space this is hard to beat for only $50, fills my largish room cleanly and balances pretty well with my gigantic JBLs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dayton Audio never disappointsThis is the, umm, third Dayton Audio speaker I have purchased and the product is, once again, exceptional. I A-B tested this speaker with another I have from a more advanced surround sound system and it held its own. Bright, yet accurate highs and great midrange sounds complimented the amplified subwoofers and the L/R speakers perfectly. Great bargain and wonderful sound.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Five Stars for the ValueI worked with truly high-end audio for many years but bought this inexpensive, center channel speaker for a secondary surround sound system in the house. I have been pleasantly surprised and impressed by its performance -- especially considering its price point. I have directly compared it to two other center channel speakers I own (one [an old, pre-Recoton, NHT VS2a] costing ten times the price of the Dayton) and while I could tell the difference (especially with the superior VS2a), the Dayton was not clearly out of its league. The high frequencies were all there on the Dayton but never harsh or overly-bright. The mid range was smooth, and while the speaker may have been just a tad boxy compared to the higher end brands it was not distracting in this respect at all. As with so many other Dayton speakers I know of no better bang for the buck if one is on a limited budget.

Dayton Audio CCS-33B 3-Way Center Channel Speaker Black

By necessity, this speaker's signal will need to be drawn directly from the TV's audio OUT jack and amplified independent of the surround sound unit located 20 feet away. Will this config work with this speaker? If so, any amp suggestions?

Asked by: Chronic Iguana
Yes. You can also use the Dayton Audio Wireless Rear Channel Amplifier System ( 300-579)Or a small 50 watt amp like the DTA-120 ( 300-3800)

My CCS 33B stopped working. There are two main speakers (not the tweeters) in series, and on one of these the braided flexible wire has disconnected from the voice coil in an impossible to repair way. Is that single speaker unit available?

Asked by: Steve181
Unfortunately we do not offer individual components for these speakers separately.

plastic cabinet?

from what i can tell in the images it looks like the cabinet is made of plastic. good or bad?
Asked by: Dave B
Yes these are plastic enclosures. This is common on small speakers like this, there is nothing wrong with plastic when used on enclosures this size.
