Dayton Audio BCT-2 Bone Conducting Transducer Exciter 45mm Dia. x 25mm H

Unlike conventional transducers that use moving air to produce sound around you, Dayton Audio BCT-2s (bone conducting transducers) convert the electrical signal into mechanical vibrations so clean, that the brain interprets the vibrating stimulus as excellent sound. Listener's ears are left free to remain aware of their surroundings, increasing personal safety.

When used against materials such as cardboard, wood, steel, and plastics, the BCT-2 operates much like a surface exciter and is capable of moving mass to produce robust sound output; much like an invisible speaker! BCTs are excellent for unique OEM sound applications and for the experimenter, where conventional speakers and exciters cannot be used due to size constraints. 

A cushioned, removable stand is included with the BCT-2 to turn your entire computer desk into a speaker without leaving behind marks. Additionally, you can apply epoxy to the stand for permanent attachment to a surface.

Note: The frequency response is given when used as a bone conducting transducer. This will change when attached to a substrate, and different substrate materials will have different frequency responses.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Sound, Low volumeI bought this speaker for a small project. I wired it into some old headphone wires. It has good sound, but needs an amplifier circuit if you want to play music through anything other than your skull. It is a nifty gadget, and I hope to get it working as a vibrational speaker.

The DAEX25 goes down to 30hz.  Is the 300hz on this one a misprint?

Hi, I´m working in a DIY project trying to make a windows with bone conduction. Is possible to use this transducer exciter to receive audio from an iphone and when touch the window with my head listen the music? I will need something else? Thanks

This requires a small amplifier just like any other speaker. As long as this is connected to a small amplifier it will produce sound when mounted to a surface.

does anyone now if this speaker can conduct through fingertips? meaning if I were to place my finger tips on it would i be able to hear the music in my head?

Unfortunately you would not be able to hear anything in your head since your skin and tissues act as an insulator.

Best quality sound

I am wondering if this particular transducer (having the largest voice coil) would be the best option of all for the ability to produce the best overall sound quality and frequency response. If not, which of the transducers available would be best?My goal is to produce a flat panel speaker and optimize for best overall high fidelity sound quality.

The voice coil size does not determine the sound quality, this mainly affects power handling. These exciters are not the first choice for high fidelity sound although with the right material I'm sure they can sound decent. The material they are mounted to will play a bigger roll in sound quality than anything else.
