Dayton Audio B652 6-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker Pair
Dayton Audio B652 6-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker Pair is rated 4.3477 out of 5 by 325.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good speakers for $30.I have to laugh reading some of these reviews how people can nit-pick a $15 speaker. The old adage "you get what you pay for" is never more true than in audio. If you want better/more sound you need to buy a better speaker. I think the bottom line here should be if you were to line up ten pair of sub $50 speakers these will probably be the best sounding of the bunch. And they may even sound better than some more expensive models. For me, I'm moving my HT into a larger room so I'm purchasing a pair of the B652's just for fill in sound for the rear channels of my 7.1 system. I'm sure they will do an adequate job for the rear sound space for fly overs, action, and other effects until my main surrounds come in. Remember, a speaker is only as good as what your ear can hear regardless of the cost, but a better speaker may let you hear things you didn't know were there. Enjoy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I'll wait for the old ones to come backI received these over the Xmas break and after break in the sound did not improve. After researching it is quite known there has been a change. If you have new surrounds that are sectional you got the new version. I got the new version. This version is not the same as the beloved and famed originals that garnered the great reviews at this price point.PE/Dayton I love you and will continue to buy from you but Please do a buyout of this series and go back to originals. I will gladly buy the old ones.People that have both series have done some great investigation. The results (from memory) were;-Different piece in the X-over dealing with the tweeter-woofer differences on the back and front-16" difference in overall size to cabinet-screws are now hex-half the stuffing-comparisons in modelingYou can look up the other differences by these do not sound like the originals. I would definitely want to try the originals. Please let me know when you bring those back.At this price point I cannot give this product a bad rating. I merely want the old ones. I still have PE's back and will buy soley from them for my projects.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Low Cost Budget SpeakersThe Dayton Audio - B652 speakers are pretty decent little bookshelf speakers. Just be prepared to have leaky boxes. I have boughten 2 sets of these so far and they have had leaks on the back of the boxes & around the woofers. I seal the back of the boxes up with black silicone & remove the woofers to replace the speaker gasketing tape with new tape to remove there leaks. I also always add a decent amount of poly fill to the speaker boxes to help them sound much smoother. After doing all this they perform pretty good. They have a good amount treble & the bass output is decent but I wish they would go a little lower for the music I play on them. For only the $29.00 I payed for them this time new, there really isn't much you can complain about them. Good low cost bookshelf speakers that is worth your money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The sound is amazing and the price is correct. With the Lepai 2020+ driving the B652 speakers, a bluetooth adapter connected playing music from my smartphone at reasonable volume levels is amazingly clear.Except for the smartphone, this system is less than $100 and sounds better than systems costing much more.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Speaker, With Simple ProblemsThis is a very nice speaker for the money. My most critical complaint is the grille cloth is not adhered to the front panel well enough. When the speaker is producing bass, the grille actually causes a rattle/distortion due to its shaking against the wood. A simple repair is to use more adhesive when installing the cloth. I purchased 16 vsets of them. Nearly ALL of them had this problem. In my case, the speakers were concealed in an organ speaker chamber. I simply removed all the front panels. They were not needed at all.I did find a couple 6 1/2" speakers were not totally tightened down, but shipping does strange things. Overall a decent quality unit. I would give it 5 stars without the simple problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great speakers for the priceThese speakers are doing every thing I could ask for.Along with my AMP the sounds are sharp and the Bass responses are amazing. I am not a tech type but my ears tell me the speakers are worth every penny I spent, and would do it again if the time arises.. As a side note, packing was great so the speakers came undamaged, thats a PLUSS .. Marsh

Dayton Audio B652 6-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker Pair

Does the Dayton Audio B652 6-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker Pair have a USB Wireless Receiver?  I have an older laptop that needs one in order to operate using Blue Tooth Technology.

Asked by: GoingGopher6656
This is a passive speaker and would still require an amplifier of some sort to operate.

I'm looking to modify the tweeter on these, and read one write up that specifies a 6.8uf cap for the 4 ohm tweeter and a 3 uf cap for the 8 ohm tweeter. What is the ohm value of the tweeter on the current model?

Asked by: gabew

Have an old set of B652s (b4 the off-performance) I'd like to try stacking (tweeter-to-tweeter) with a new pair.  Can feed them in parallel from an old DTA-100 or a new DTA-120, or run separate amps to each side or top & bottom.  Recommendations?

Asked by: ks1g
If you run them on one amp they will need to be wired in series for a safe load on the amplifier. If you wire them to two separate amps this will not matter, but that will make setting levels tricky unless you have a preamp before the Dayton amplifiers.

I saw the weight listed as something like 11 pounds, but is that per loudspeaker or for the pair?  I assume the former, but thought I'd ask since so many people have commented about these being light in weight.

Asked by: IndyVeggie
This weight is for the pair.

If I install 1 1/8" diameter x 6 1/2" length flared port tubes to these bookshelf speakers for a tuned frequency of ruffly 45 Hz, will they play lower than the sealed set up? Or is this not worth the time & money & should just replace the woofers instead?

Asked by: Pain for Fun 1980
I would not recommend porting these enclosures. The woofers have a high Q bump in the response already and will actually play lower if you keep them sealed. A port that small will probably have port noise issues anyway, so changing woofers will not be very beneficial.

I wanted to use the drivers from these for a project but I cannot find any specs for them. Where can I find them? They are the current version with 4 ohm drivers and a 6.8 cap crossover.

Asked by: Neel
Since these drivers are part of a pre-built speaker, we do not have any information or parameters for individual drivers. You might be able to find something third part on our forum.
