Dayton Audio B652 6-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker Pair
Dayton Audio B652 6-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker Pair is rated 4.3493 out of 5 by 292.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Value LeaderUsing with a Lepai amp as computer speakers. For $60 it is pretty impressive. Excellent speaker for small listening area. Don't expect dynamic results at high volumes. But for low-med volume back ground music, they are outstanding. Sometimes can even make me drift off and just listen when a good tunes comes on Pandora. Can't image a better PC set-up for 3X the price.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sound Great, but easy to blowThese speakers sound pretty good for the price, I doubt I could add more than what has been written on that, so I will focus on what I have run into. The only downside to me has been blown drivers when pairing to an old Onkyo 45W per channel amp, which I never turned up more than 60% on the main volume. Parts Express has been great for service, and sent me another pair of speakers free without having to return the old speakers. Wow, nice! But between the 2 pairs, I have been able to (as of yesterday, another blown tweeter) swap drivers to have one functioning pair. So far, 2 blown tweeters, and one woofer that was as far as I could tell bad from day 1 on the originals , as the cone would not move smoothly without internal rubbing of some kind: when carefully pushing on it I noticed some kind of grinding going on, I assume the voice coil was dragging.Maybe my amp actually puts out more than the 45W it claims, but IMO these speakers are rated too optimistically for power handling. Be careful if you are pushing them anywhere near the claimed power handling specs. For the price of these though, I'm sure a tweeter upgrade would not be a big investment, and something I am contemplating if another tweeter blows.PS: the tweeter caps did not blow, as checked with my Fluke multimeter, it was the drivers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small size, Huge presanceI bought these only after reading all the reviews and questions. I knew going in that a simple mod or two would improve the quality. The sound at first hook up was bassy and a tiny bit muddy. The tweeter seemed benign, low output. For 2 weeks I played them every day for about 6 to 8 hours, at a perky volume but not blasting. The bass "mud" cleared up and became more crisp. The tweeter woke up and gave the high end volume and clarity. At this point I added the 2 oz. of fill described in previous reviews. The sound improved yet again. The higher quality tweeters I purchased from PE, may not be installed in the Dayton 652. Seriously, these 652's rock. Give them a few days to break it and you will be pleased, mods or no mods. I am using them with a surround sound system, but they have enough presence to be stand alone speakers for TV or stereo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelivable Value!I'm very surprised at the great sound to price ratio. Speakers of this quality used to cost 4 times the PE price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bargainBought these to cannibalize the speakers for a boombox I was building. Too cheap to pass up. Listened to them for a few hours when they arrived. Nice sound, sorta lightweight though. They danced off my table while I was in the garage. Luckily I didn't need the cabinets as it messed one up pretty bad but the drivers were ok. Very worth the price if you need some good garage speakers or something in a secondary room for listening.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome sound for the $I bought these speakers for a small den (11'x11') in my home. I have them connected to a low end receiver and use for music and my TV. The sound is awesome in this size room and for the money I don't think you can beat them.

Dayton Audio B652 6-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker Pair

Hello, Looking forward to upgrading the b652 enclosure with some 1 inch round dowels, can you suggest what size to cut the dowels ?Also what glue do you  reccomend?

Asked by: BOBTEK126
This is something you will have to measure properly in order to get the best results. Usually Titebond or Titebond II wood glue will work well for an application like this.

You'll get a slightly lower frequency response with the Dayton B652 speakers but other than size they are comparable.

I would like to know if these speakers would be a good replacement for my cube speakers that came with the Bose AM3 speaker system?

Asked by: L Coop
As long as the amplifier you are currently using will handle a 6 ohm load these will work, although we cannot directly compare them to the Bose. In my personal opinion they will be an improvement.

Hi ther, A month back, I purchased a pair of these B652 speakers from you. I have been using them with my Topping TP20-MK2 MKII TA2020 Class T-AMP. The sound is clear but not loud. Can you please recommend me an alternative amp for my B652s?
