Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for an economy speakerI have a friend running the 652's with a Lepai 2020, and my pair are hooked up to a Lepai 269. Plenty of sound for both our LRs, not a big bass fan, but I hardly use my Kenwood and Polk Audios anymore. (probably should unplug 'em to save vampire power drain...)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for what it is, Great for the priceFor the price, you can't beat these. For HT or music use, they work fine. You do need to EQ some mid's to make them sound good. Add a sub for anything below 90 Hz. Good build and a great value. 4 stars because the 652 AIR's sound much better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Value!I bought these speakers so that I could use them with an old SONY receiver that I have dedicated to my 2-car garage. These little speakers are FANTASTIC for such an application. Great bass response. Treble response may be lacking for some, but more enough for my garage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good little speakerYou are going to get two reviews in one here. The Dayton BR652 speakers and the Lepai 2020 amp. I purchased these speakers for my wife's classroom. She is a 5th grade teacher. She likes to play music in the background sometimes and she introduces the children to both classical music and jazz. I paired these speakers with great Lepai amp also sold by PE. For less than $60 a good stereo system is born. I hung the speakers up on the wall about 7 feet high with a natural downward slant. IT sounds great fills the classroom with sound. We also also using it when she plays DVDs or streams something from the web. Ran a set up cables to the little amp from her laptop computer and it works great. Fills the classroom with sound, the kids know that the other classrooms do not have this. They know it sounds good. The speakers are efficient enough that Lepai does a good job, no clipping or harsh sounds. Both products are highly recommended. Does not quite compare to a true audiophile setup (that i have at home), but then it is a fraction of the cost and you get 90% and maybe more of the sound.

Dayton Audio B652 6-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker Pair

If I install 1 1/8" diameter x 6 1/2" length flared port tubes to these bookshelf speakers for a tuned frequency of ruffly 45 Hz, will they play lower than the sealed set up? Or is this not worth the time & money & should just replace the woofers instead?

Asked by: Pain for Fun 1980
I would not recommend porting these enclosures. The woofers have a high Q bump in the response already and will actually play lower if you keep them sealed. A port that small will probably have port noise issues anyway, so changing woofers will not be very beneficial.

I wanted to use the drivers from these for a project but I cannot find any specs for them. Where can I find them? They are the current version with 4 ohm drivers and a 6.8 cap crossover.

Asked by: Neel
Since these drivers are part of a pre-built speaker, we do not have any information or parameters for individual drivers. You might be able to find something third part on our forum.

What gauge speaker wire would be good for these to run to a lepai amp?

Asked by: jake3759
18 gauge wire will be perfectly fine for these.

Recently asked about VSX-44 with these speakers. In the specs it also has a listing of 140 Watts per Channel (6 ohms 1 kHz 1 % 1ch Driven). Why the difference from 80 watts @ 8 ohms and would this make a difference? Recommendation?

Asked by: mcgruff764
As long as the amp will handle a 6 ohm load it will work with these speakers. The reason the output power goes up with a lower impedance rating is because the lower impedance draws more current.

I've heard of some bad quality control/manufacturing back in 2013. Has this problem been addressed?

Asked by: lillod
yes. There was only a short version that didn't sound as good. All problems were resolved in 2013.

O. K. I'll try again, I have a Sony STD-DH800 reciever, I have R,L,C speakers 2 surrounds, and a sub. making a nice 5.1 can I add a pair of Dayton B652 to make a 7.1 or possibly 7.2.

Asked by: gleason45
Yes these speakers would work very well for that application.
