Product Details

Dayton Audio AMT3-4 Air Motion Transformer Tweeter 4 Ohm

The Dayton Audio AMT3-4's generous radiating area extends response from lower frequencies into the upper midrange, making the transducer great for use as a wideband "mid-tweeter" in a 2-way design with larger woofers, or as a midrange in a 3-way design. The robust metal faceplate adds the distinctive feel of quality, while the sealed rear chamber design eliminates the need for a separate enclosure chamber.

Dayton Audio AMT (Air Motion Transformer) tweeters use groundbreaking transducer technology from the original Heil Air Motion Transformer to provide ultra-clean, detailed, and dynamic treble output. The pleated ribbon diaphragm of an AMT provides a large acoustic radiating area condensed into a compact chassis, for extremely high output and improved power handling.

Dayton Audio AMT3-4 Air Motion Transformer Tweeter 4 Ohm
Dayton Audio AMT3-4 Air Motion Transformer Tweeter 4 Ohm is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another High Quality Dayton Product!Honestly, I don't have a lot of experience with ribbon tweeters so I wasn't sure what to expect from these. They have an expensive, quality look and feel to them. For being 3/4" thick, they're heavy!Listening impressions were done using a 3rd order crossover above 2000Hz with the low end duties handled by the Dayton RS 7incher. Sound quality is amazing! The detail is top notch and the open, effortless soundstage these tweeters create is what I was the most impressed with. The large surface area gives them a huge advantage!Anyone wanting to take their Hi-Fi experience to the next level needs to try these!

What would be the best enclosure for two of these speakers? Working off of a design that calls for 11.5" H x 7.5"W x 6"D to mount two AMT's

Asked by: WMarkY
These tweeters to not require a specific enclosure volume, they are sealed back.

I want to try these mid/tweeters! Yes there will be challenges for my chevy truck but I am familiar/love the Heil AMT's. I can do a custom mount in the kick panels and aim them at my head. What mid-bass would you pair with? Have (2) 10" subs 40-125hz.

How do the angles of the AMT tweeters compare to ribbon and dome tweeters? I am looking to upgrade some titanium dome, but do not want a narrow listening angle.

Asked by: Haste
A dome tweeter will have even dispersion in all directions, limited only by the baffle shape and dimensions. A ribbon or AMT will have wide horizontal dispersion but very limited vertical dispersion.

Can the back cup be removed for dipole use without damaging anything? (The AMTPRO-4 appears to be constructed the same way, comes w/o a back cup.)

Asked by: emaxon
The back cup cannot be removed from this tweeter.

What value resistor or other part would I use to shunt frequencies below 2000 Hz in this 4 ohm tweeter? (Tweeter will be connected directly to amp.)

Asked by: stevere
14 mf cap & 0.5 mH coil. will give you a 2000 hz 4ohm high pass filter. The coil is wired directly to the tweeters +/- and the capacitor is attached to the + side of the tweeter as well. The amp leads are attached to the other end of the capacitor wire[+] and the [-] amp lead is attached to the [-] side of the tweeter. Got it? I usually check 2-3 times B4 I apply power!! See parts below. Have fun!! Either coil or cap will work.

Car Audio?

I am considering paring these with CDT Audio HD-6 woofers. Will they survibe the environment and mate well it the woofer?
Asked by: Slowpoke Rodriguez
While these are not as fragile as ribbons they still may be susceptible to wind damage. I cannot comment on how well they will mate with the CDT woofers.
