About the Cabinet

This particular cabinet is designed specifically for the Dayton Audio 10" Ultimax subwoofer, but works for any subwoofer with an overall diameter of 10-3/4" or less, and a cutout requirement of 9-9/16" or less. When used together with minimal fill, the box and subwoofer combine to create a critically damped subwoofer with a Qtc of 0.589 and an f3 of 45 Hz.

During the CNC manufacturing process, rabbets and dadoes are cut into the back panel for precise panel alignment. A unique two-piece brace adds superior rigidity without affecting the subwoofer's performance. Both side panels feature 3/4" rabbeted extensions with rabbeted recesses to perfectly install the first piece of the two-part, double thick baffle. Plate amplifier installation is made easy by following the scribed interior guide with a jig saw and by modifying one of the braces.

The end result is a resonance-free, sealed subwoofer cabinet that is purpose-built to extract the best performance from Dayton Audio's 10" Ultimax subwoofer. All that's left to do is finish it to match your décor or paint it to stand out. When your friends ask about it, you get the pleasure of saying, "I built it myself!"

Specifications: • Panel thickness: 3/4", front baffle is 1-1/2" • Panel material: Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) • Finished net cabinet volume (subtracting the double thick baffle, bracing, and woofer volume): 1.25 cubic feet • External dimensions: 15.25" H x 15.25" W x 15.25" D • Subwoofer recess: 1/2" • Weight: 35 lbs. • Made in the U.S.A.

About the Subwoofer

The Ultimax Series of dual voice coil subwoofers, from Dayton Audio, are not for the faint of heart. Built using the latest in subwoofer technology, Ultimax subwoofers are the pinnacle of low frequency driver design. An Ultimax subwoofer tests the strength of your foundation with fast, articulate, gut-wrenching bass.

Over 1-1/2" of travel (3/4" Xmax) is kept completely linear through the use of dual spiders that also limit distortion and rocking modes. "Tall-boy" rubber surrounds with integrated gaskets maintain driver surface area during extreme excursion moments. Thick, one-piece Nomex honeycomb covered cones are covered with woven, heavy-duty glass fibers creating ultra-still cones that resist deformation.

Dayton Audio 10" Ultimax Subwoofer and Cabinet Bundle
Dayton Audio 10" Ultimax Subwoofer and Cabinet Bundle is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, Deep Bass!I received this last night via: UPS and came appropriately packaged. The sub is beefy and stout. Put the box together and some people state there not being direction but its pretty straight forward. Lined the box with acoustic foam and put 1lb. of  filling; the bass is deep and everything rattles in m house. I own a reference 10 and the difference between the two I would say is the reference is of course clean but the ultimax is a brute, powerful and stout!

Dayton Audio 10" Ultimax Subwoofer and Cabinet Bundle

I'm thinking of using an external Outlaw Audio 2200 amp with this 300-7080 and 295-510 bundle. Does this make sense? Thanks!

Asked by: Claude M
300 watts will get the woofer moving but we really recommend about double that if you want to get the most from these.

Given the small size, this looks the be an excellent option for my Father's tv room setup, what are some good options for amps, both plate and seperates?  What else is needed just speaker wire and connectors?

It's this speaker box and speaker good for a bass guitar?

Asked by: violinbroker
This would not be a good choice for bass guitar. It is low in sensitivity compared to a standard bass cab and will not reach as high in frequency.

How does the speaker go into this thing?

I just purchased this package, and I'm having trouble putting it together. Probably a silly question, but the speaker is supposed to go into the front baffle cutout so that the rim of the speaker sits in the recess, right? Because if so, then the recess isn't near large enough - off by a 1/4 of an inch in diameter. So I guess, followup question: how would you recommend I resize the recess?
Asked by: pieinthesky1
Now this is interesting. These cabinets usually fit together. If you have not already glued the back braces to the box, you can remove them and use a powered or unpowered jig saw to remove a small circle in them. If it's glued--you can still do that with the same method, but it will be harder to do. Another way, is to put a round shim that's 1/4" in the recess. Felt or rubber could be used without affecting the sound as long as its air tight.

What about a plate amplifier?

Is there room on the back of this cabinet to install a plate amplifier? From the pictures it looks as if the bracing would be in the way. Thanks
Asked by: JT21
There is room for a plate amplifier on the rear of the enclosure. The 300-807 is a great choice for the Ultimax 10".
