If I am wiring this to a 12v, 500ma, power supply, do I wire the red wire to positive and the black wire to negative? Does the yellow have any use if I am wiring this to a standard 12v 500ma power supply? Or was the yellow for computer usage?
Yes red to positive and black to negative. The third conductor is for speed control and can be cut off for this application.

how do i power this fan is there a transformer i can purchase to step down the voltage from 120v to 12 dc
You just need a standard 12VDC power supply for a fan like this. The option below will be fine, although you will have to cut the connector off (while its unplugged) and splice the wires to the fan.http://www.parts-express.com/panasonic-kx-a11-12-vdc-500ma-ac-adapter-55-x-21mm-center-%28-%29--129-005

What is the pin out/wire color configuration..? There are no details with the fan and need to know for wiring. Txs G
This uses the red as a positive and black as a negative. The third is a tach connection used in some applications, but not fully necessary for fan operation./
