Celestion G12 Century Vintage 12" 8 Ohm Neo Guitar Speaker 60W

Celestion developed the G12 Century Vintage guitar speaker using their neodymium motor technology for a lightweight, modern take on classic guitar speaker design. Their efforts result in a unique blend of extraordinary note definition and vintage character.

In addition to being exceptionally light, the G12 Century Vintage is loud with a tightly controlled low-end, clear (yet powerful) midrange, and crisp, bright top-end. Super-fast attack with superb tracking makes this speaker ideal for high-speed, high gain rock guitar players and clean country pickers.

Celestion G12 Century Vintage 12" 8 Ohm Neo Guitar Speaker 60W
Celestion G12 Century Vintage 12" 8 Ohm Neo Guitar Speaker 60W is rated 4.9333 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light and LoudI modified a H&K TM 18 Combo from 10" to 12" baffle plate, and chose a Celestion G12 Centry Vintage for my installation. Wow! Great voicing, and the amp headroom shines through. The G12 has smooth, in-your-face highs and rich clear bass. The design allows the midrange to be a bit forward in the overall sound, but softened when I set the amp tones flat. It really made a good little combo a great one. I used a small piece of stick-on foam as a buffer between the driver tubes and speaker frame to minimize any vibration from the close fit. The Neodymium design helped to lower the already light weight of the combo. The amp now has an attitude with a slightly British tone. Kudos Celestion

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful and lightweightBought 2 of these to put in my 2x12 cabinet. I am absolutely amazed at how good these sound, and they are not even broken-in yet. I am not a fan of the V30 but was looking for something close to the Greenback or ultimately the Creamback 65 - this might just be it! These are so clean and there is still clarity with the dirtiest distortion. I also noticed the cabinet was much lighter when I was wiring it on top of my 4x12 and lifting and turning it. I think I will build a closed-back cabinet for these and see what kind of sonic magic these are hiding. I know I want more of these, so somebody buy me 4 or 6 and I'll pay you back after I sell all the rest of my speakers that I thought I liked. Please? :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sounds great, Less weight!Put this in a sealed enclosure with some pillow stuffing, and it sounds great for clean guitar tones. Very light weight, you can really feel the difference.I imagine this would be great weight savings in a twin or stack.I am using it for traditional Jazz and Jazz/Rock fusion guitar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quintessentially Celestion SpeakerThis is a great all around speaker. It still has that Celestion sound but is very balanced. Has a nice complex and smooth midrange, good low end, and shimmering highs without being piercing. One of my absolute favorite Celestions and very light too! This compares favorably to a G12H30 or Greenback and mixes well with a V30

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile Rock and Roll driverGot mine this week. Nice Greenback-type sound in an open cabinet. The Peavey Classic 30 can now cover a lot of basses.I was worried about a too-forward upper midrange (2-4kHz) but it's fairly mellow. Nice mid-range crunch. It's a modern speaker in that the HF extends pretty well, so you can dial up a bright, chimey clean tone if you want, but it's not strident on overdrive if you dial back the highs.Oh, and the Peavey lost 5 pounds from the Eminence that was in it. Makes it quite a bit more manageable to move around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight goodnessI bought 5 of these because I just had my third back surgery and had to lighten the load. These replaced some Vintage 30's that I loved. 2 each in my 2 2-12" cabs and 1 in a 1-12" cabinet. My fear of how these would sound was unfounded since they sound similar to the Vintage 30's just not as sensitive. And the mids are not so in-your-face. So far I'm loving them. Just need to break them in now.

This is going to change the tone some but that is really more of a personal choice. Functionally it will work in that application with no trouble at all.

Will this be a good match for a sealed cab? Used for Jazz electric and sometimes for acoustic electric. I prefer clean tones, stiff solid bass.

Asked by: Wavy
Yes this will work well in a sealed cab.
