Product Details

Celestion CF18VJD 18" Professional Subwoofer 1600W

Celestion's CF18VJD 18" subwoofer features an advanced, FEA optimized motor for maximum output and symmetrical cone movement, which results in low harmonic distortion, as well as two demodulation rings for low electromagnetic distortion.

To keep control of the driver when used with high power amplifiers (of up to 1,600 watts RMS), Celestion employs double suspension and a multi-roll surround for exceptional linearity during extreme excursion moments that are common with lower frequency reproduction. A lightweight carbon fiber and Kevlar-loaded paper cone is used due to its rigidity and ability to respond quickly to audio impulses.

Intelligent heat management is designed into the cast aluminum chassis, high temperature 5" inside/outside wound voice coil, and extensively vented ferrite magnet which prevents thermal compression and the resulting loss and sensitivity. Last, but certainly not least, this 18" subwoofer has an amazing 9 mm of Xmax to move massive amounts of air.

what is the EBP of this spk?thanks

Asked by: rb57
The EBP of this woofer is 103.4. You can calculate the EBP of any given driver by dividing the driver Fs by its Qes parameter.

how does this compare with jbl 2242H?

I currently have JBL 2241H and was wanting an upgrade. This seems to be a good step. does anyone have a comparison?
Asked by: colofan
Whether one will perform better than another depends on the enclosure they are in. They are both drivers that like a small vented box, roughly 3 cubic feet tuned in the lower 50's. If you bump up the volume to get a lower tuning, the JBL appears to have a bit more output with the same input power. They both appear to have more mechanical limitations with as little as 500 watts in a 5 cubic foot vented box.
