from Keeps the bass in the car.I've got a 95 monte. I insisted on dampening it before my system went in. Dynamat Xtreme is what we usually use, but it's even more expensive, so I got 2 hd shop packs. I could of used 4 to get the whole car, but I'm not spending that much. I mainly focused on the doors, ceiling, rear deck, fender wells, and after filling my rear walls with 10 big cans of big gap filler expando foam, the walls. I put some on the trunk lid but my box is where the back seat goes and sealed off to the rear of the car so no air gets into the trunk. I did the entire inner door metal and then a solid piece covering all the holes under the door skin. It's winter in Michigan and when the HD got here it was hard as a rock and would not even unroll. Sat in the house for 2 days and no change. Dynamat Xtreme is butyl rubber and stays flexible in the cold. VB2HD is vinly and unusable in the cold. It's like bending a record. I worked in a heated garage and kept it by the wood stove so it softened up quite a bit. Wax and tar remover cleaned all the metal before sticking it on. I had to heat every single piece up with a heat gun before applying, and then heat gun it into all of the shapes. It molds into all the dips and sticks good. After cooling it feels like a smooth rhynoliner and is pretty hard. 2 shop packs by myself took me 16 hours because of the heat gun and winter aspect and all my interior was already out. First thing I noticed was shutting the trunk and it really quieted the doors. I made 2 sealed boxes on each door with WT3 for pioneer D component 5.25". Seems how my subs are a wall and the rear of the car is sealed off, I put 2 5.25"s and 2 tweeters in each door. All 4 channels up front running off nice head unit. They sound great and the best part of the vb2hd is that outside the car with the windows up you can't even tell the radio is on. Open the doors and wow it's loud in there. Nice to jam at red lights and not annoy other cars or get pulled over. OK, NOW FOR THE BASS. I use 4 10" dvc subs, each one gets 300Wrms cranking with the windows up and didn't hear any rattles or buzzes from the car. Standing outside, the car doesn't rattle or vibrate much which is good and hardly any bass gets out. You could go right by a cop and he wouldn't even notice your ears are sputrting out blood all over the windows inside. When I rolled the windows down it was a whole different story. Stuff was falling off the shelves in the house about 20 feet away. All in all, I'm glad I dampened the car before doing the system. It's all expensive, but the vb2hd shop pack worked for me. Make sure it's clean and hot.

from Good stuff and worksI've used this on home speaker projects. It works well enough and I wouldn't consider another project without something similar to this. I think I actually like the sound of a deadened cabinet over the sound of a stuffed cabinet.
