BOSS R4002 RIOT 800 Watt 2 Channel MOSFET Car Audio Amplifier

If you're still using your head unit for amplification, you have no idea what you're missing! Head units are often unable to provide the loud, dynamic sound you want, and can distort (or even damage) your speakers at even medium volume levels.

That's where the BOSS RIOT Series of amplifiers comes in. Tried-and-true Class AB amplifier topology, 2-ohm stable (for powering a pair of 4-ohm speakers off a single channel), and way more than enough power for even the hungriest door, dash, or deck speaker. The R4002 can also be set up for 2.1 (tri-mode) use to power a pair of stereo speakers and a mono subwoofer (passive crossover values are listed in the manual).

BOSS built the RIOT Series amplifiers with advanced features that are usually associated with amplifiers at more than twice the price: thermal and short circuit protection, soft turn-on circuit, remote turn-on/off, nickel-plated low-level and high-level inputs, LED power and protection indicators, all housed in a stealth black anodized aluminum chassis.

The R4002 also includes a MOSFET PWM power supply (for 4-ohm bridged-mono operation), a variable 35 to 160 Hz low-pass crossover, selectable fixed 80 Hz high-pass crossover, a variable 0 to 18 dB bass boost, and a remote subwoofer level control for dialing in the perfect amount of bass from the driver's seat. Mounting hardware included.

Specifications: • Power output: 2 x 150W RMS (@ 4 ohms), 2 x 400W max (@ 2 ohms), 1 x 800W max (4 ohms bridged-mono) • Frequency response: 9 to 50,000 Hz • Signal-to-ratio: >102 dB • Total harmonic distortion: 0.01% @ RMS power output • Damping factor: >125 • Dimensions (L x H x W): 10.43" x 2.25" x 10.79".

BOSS R4002 RIOT 800 Watt 2 Channel MOSFET Car Audio Amplifier
BOSS R4002 RIOT 800 Watt 2 Channel MOSFET Car Audio Amplifier is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent valueI bought this recently to install a new subwoofer in my 98 Explorer. This was absolutely the perfect size to stash behind the left-side rear panel, yet gives good power to the sub. Keep in mind that my setup wasn't meant to rattle the car, but this gives me more bass than I need at a good price. I used this with a Boss D10F.I also recommend reducing most of the Bass Boost, as it seems to target a single frequency, so it's hard to discern different pitches with it enabled. I found it still produces more bass than I need without that enabled.

Can I run 2 door, 2 deck speakers and a sub from this amp or do I need a separate amp for the sub.

Asked by: Chris 21
You will need either a separate amp for the subs, or a 4 channel amp and bridging one set of outputs for the sub.

I'd like to run bigger speakers on my boat. How would this connect to my in-dash player? Just connect the speaker wires into the Boss? (and then let the Boss connect to the bigger speakers) I don't think I will be using a subwoofer.

Asked by: PauseButtonAudio
The speaker outputs on the existing player would connect to the speaker level inputs on this amplifier, then the speakers will be plugged into the outputs. The amp will also require power from the battery, a solid ground connection and a 12 volt remote trigger for turning the amplifier on. This is all detailed in the owners manual.

Im getting 2 400W 12" HF Series Dual 4 ohm Subwoofers and i wanna know if this amp is powerful enough to power both subs and a head unit

Asked by: evanelkins1
In most systems the head unit would be powered by the car, and it has its own amplifier, so you would not need the amp to do anything there. This should have no trouble driving two sub woofers though.

What Fuse size?

What size fuse do I need to run for my power wire?
Asked by: the hoove
You want to run the same size fuse as the amplifier has, so in this case, 40A would be ideal.
