BOSS R1002 RIOT 200 Watt 2 Channel Car Audio Amplifier

If you're still using your head unit for amplification, you have no idea what you're missing! Head units are often unable to provide the loud, dynamic sound you want, and can distort (or even damage) your speakers at even medium volume levels.

That's where the BOSS RIOT Series of amplifiers comes in. Tried-and-true Class AB amplifier topology, 2-ohm stable (for powering a pair of 4-ohm speakers off a single channel), and way more than enough power for even the hungriest door, dash, or deck speaker.

BOSS built the RIOT Series amplifiers with advanced features that are usually associated with amplifiers at more than twice the price: thermal and short circuit protection, soft turn-on circuit, remote turn-on/off, nickel-plated low-level and high-level inputs, LED power and protection indicators, all housed in a stealth black anodized aluminum chassis. Mounting hardware included.

Specifications: • Power output: 2 x 50W RMS (@ 4 ohms), 2 x 100W max (@ 2 ohms) • Frequency response: 12 to 22,000 Hz • Signal-to-ratio: 90 dB • Total harmonic distortion: 0.01% @ RMS power output • Dimensions (L x H x W): 9" x 2.0625" x 5.1875".

BOSS R1002 RIOT 200 Watt 2 Channel Car Audio Amplifier
BOSS R1002 RIOT 200 Watt 2 Channel Car Audio Amplifier is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great AmpI have been using this amp for about two months now on in a system I built to carry to work and I couldnt be happier. I am able to run this system through my cigarette lighter in the truck or plug it in to the wall.I plug my MP3 player in and run it all day.In fact it sounded so good that I took my stereo to the beach and it ran almost nonstop for a week. With a ten amp power adapter, RCA to mini sterio adapter and a couple of indoor outdoor satelite speakers I have the best MP3 amp I have ever owned. How much power do you really need? This little amp delivers all the volume I could ask for.Unless you want to be deaf, putting this amp in an autmobile supplies plenty of crystal clear volume.I now have ordered two of these and also its 4 channel sister to build carry systems for my friend who cant believe the sound.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product, niche sizeI used this to power a couple of yamaha outdoor speakers mounted in my truck bed. The sound quality is great! It would be better, though, to have slightly more power on a 2 channel amp like this, in my opinion.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Boss RiotI am using the Boss Riot r1002 amplifier to power two alpine six by nine speakers in MDF boxes. They have a 75 watt RMS , and this little amplifier does a great job powering them. I thought this was too cheap to be any good, and I could not find much on reviews. But after I tested it Im impressed. This little amp will most likely get bad reviews because people feel the need to drive two 12in subwoofers with a cheap amplifier designed for speakers. Overall, basic, cheap, and good preforming amplifier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little big ampalthough i did not get this from parts express, it is a gift, it is also a great amp, i gave it a 5 in performance, well it really depends on what speakers you use, and the signal source, i used jbl500 studio speakers and souds quite excelent, slight hum but i think its from crossing the power line with the signal, i'll fix that, value i gave a 5, cause it is a gift and the fact that it is a $35 amp, i did the math and does only 90 watts all in all, i knew that from the begining at an 8 ohm load, 15 - 20 wrms per channel, tad bigger than i expected, and a 5 for features, i just needed it to power some studio speakers, so the gain nob is all i need, actually since a computer audio signal really doesnt put out much depending, unless its asus, asus is best computer company, i have intel right now, but gain right now is more like a volume knob, but like all volume or gain knobs, there is a limit, cant crank it all the way up, but never confuse a gain for a volume though, a gain is only to match signal voltage, not raise it, but other than that, the computer does most of the audio processing work, and it does get pretty loud to... so yea, all in all, i would definitly recommend for powering small studio speakers.

How much 12 vdc amperage is required to drive the amp at full power? Thanks

Asked by: Buzzard13
The amp has a built in 7.5A fuse, so this will be roughly the max current draw required for full output.

Will this amp be able to push these specs? i have 2 of these subs. if not what does PE recommend? cheap wise, with bass control. High Temperature Dual 2'' Kapton Voice Coil 4 Ohm 500 Watts RMS/1000 Watts Peak SPL @ 1W/1M: 90dB

Asked by: fpresiado
This amplifier will power the woofers but you will be very limited with overall output. I would recommend a 2 channel amplifier that is rated for at least 500 watts RMS per channel at 2 ohms. The Lanzar below would be a great option.http://www.parts-express.com/lanzar-htg257-heritage-2000-watt-2-channel-amplifier--267-7134

Is this amplifier bridgeable for powering a single 8" 4 ohm subwoofer?

Asked by: feltrider99
Unfortunately this amplifier is not bridgeable although you could use a dual voice coil woofer and wire one channel to each coil for the maximum output.

Hello, i have a pair of DVC subwoofers with 60W MAX and 1.2Ohm rating per coil and i want to use this amp in my car but will this blow them?

Asked by: speaker freak
There is no guarantee you will not blow them, that is entirely up to you. However this amplifier has the proper amount of power for a system like that so they should work well together.

Can i run this off of a wall plug?

I need to use this for a project inside of a house. How can I power it?
Asked by: pjackson
You can power this amp with 110/120V house power if you use a 12volt power supply. The only concern, is the amplifier's power draw [in amps]. Since this amplifier does not state how much power it draws at house current or how much it will supply at 12volts, [these numbers are stated on the amp cover] I can only give a general answer. The higher the amp rating, the closer to full wattage output will be delivered. A car battery puts out around65+ amps at 12V. I have suggested a few so you can make your choice. [bang vs. cost]. It's worth the cost if you plan on using this amp for car and home. If just home use only, look at other options below.
