BOSS BRS40 4" Dual Cone Replacement Speaker
what kind of connection does it have for wiring?
Just picked up a pair of these and cannot find any specifications for determining optimum cabinet size and porting info. I know they're cheapies, but can someone give me an approximation for cabinet size and porting?
Due to how these are packaged we cannot pull one from stock to measure T/S parameters, and Boss does not supply them. Speakers like this will have an Fs around 100 Hz and a high Qts since they are generally designed for IB applications, so a sealed box will yield the smoothest bass response. A volume from 0.2-0.4 should work fine, but you won't get much below about 80 Hz from them.

Dimensions of mounting circle ?
What is the diagonal dimension of mounting hole to mounting hole?Example: on the original speakers it is approx. 4 and 5/8"s

Hello, can you give me the mounting dimensions..
The overall diameter (side to side) of the frame on this is exactly 4". It requires a 3-7/8" diameter cutout. The mounting holes are 4-1/2" across diagonally, 3-1/4" measured adjacently and it is 1.7" deep.

do you have a speaker like this in a 2" or 3" version?
We have plenty of 2 or 3" full range speakers available, but the smallest option we have in the car audio section is the 3-1/2" GRS below.http://www.parts-express.com/grs-3as-4-3-1-2-dual-cone-replacement-car-speaker-4-ohm--292-452

I want to use this to update and restore an old drive in speaker. I need to send the signal through a potentiometer (volume control knob). What rated potentiometer should I use for the best sound?
You need to use an "L Pad" to control the volume of the speaker. They are available from P.E.
