BOSS BRS40 4" Dual Cone Replacement Speaker
BOSS BRS40 4" Dual Cone Replacement Speaker is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ValueOf course these can't replace high-dollar full-range drivers, but for under $8? Holy cow! With some EQ they result in decent HF, and, in an enclosure, decent LF as well. I use these for updating vintage radios and small stereos, and am happy everytime.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good ValueI bought these speakers to repair / upgrade an old pair of bookshelf speakers I had laying around. Perfect drop in fit, and better sound than the OEM drivers.Very pleased, especially for the price.Prompt delivery - as usual.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent ReplacementI found this to be an excellent replacement speaker for restoring some old table radios. It has superior performance compared to many original speakers.Since the magnet is larger you need to be sure the chassis will fit below in some models.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A VERY good transaction. These little 4" speakers are just as expected. Fine value for money; still "cheapies" though. But just what I needed. 4" 4 Ohm of decent quality are a bit rare.On the other hand the service was above and beyond the call of duty. Very prompt shipping - everything went perfectly even to a Canadian buyer. Packing was just superior - dare I say overpacked for such a puny order? These people obviously want YOUR business. You should give it to them as I will from here on. A GREAT seller with all manner of great stuff. The catalog is a veritable goldmine.I WILL RETURN!

BOSS BRS40 4" Dual Cone Replacement Speaker

Just picked up a pair of these and cannot find any specifications for determining optimum cabinet size and porting info.  I know they're cheapies, but can someone give me an approximation for cabinet size and porting?

Asked by: johnny_mnemonic
Due to how these are packaged we cannot pull one from stock to measure T/S parameters, and Boss does not supply them. Speakers like this will have an Fs around 100 Hz and a high Qts since they are generally designed for IB applications, so a sealed box will yield the smoothest bass response. A volume from 0.2-0.4 should work fine, but you won't get much below about 80 Hz from them.

Dimensions of mounting circle ?

Asked by: MrJohn
What is the diagonal dimension of mounting hole to mounting hole?Example: on the original speakers it is approx. 4 and 5/8"s

Hello, can you give me the mounting dimensions..

Asked by: ProjectZ
The overall diameter (side to side) of the frame on this is exactly 4". It requires a 3-7/8" diameter cutout. The mounting holes are 4-1/2" across diagonally, 3-1/4" measured adjacently and it is 1.7" deep.

do you have a speaker like this in a 2" or 3" version?

Asked by: dickens
We have plenty of 2 or 3" full range speakers available, but the smallest option we have in the car audio section is the 3-1/2" GRS below.

I want to use this to update and restore an old drive in speaker. I need to send the signal through a potentiometer (volume control knob). What rated potentiometer should I use for the best sound?

Asked by: mjoy61
You need to use an "L Pad" to control the volume of the speaker. They are available from P.E.

I am replacing speakers in a 97' Trans-Am and need the mount pattern dimensions for these speakers to compare to the ones currently are in my car. Is that possible? Thank you!

Asked by: nileator
The bolt holes are on a 4-1/2" circle.
