Product Details

Bohlender Graebener Neo3W Planar Tweeter w/Back Cup

The Neo3 is a 3" planar transducer capable of reproducing high frequencies with great detail and controlled dispersion. The large radiating area of the Neo3 is several times larger than any dome tweeter, resulting in very low distortion and an effortless sound. Comes with an attached damped rear chamber, which may be removed for dipole use. This unit can be combined with either the surface mount or flush mount faceplate kit for attractive installation in any speaker cabinet.

The Bohlender Graebener Neo Series of planar transducers feature push-pull neodymium magnets, extremely light Kaladex(R) diaphragms, and an etched planar aluminum conductor. There are no heavy voice coils, glue joints, or surrounds to inhibit the reproduction of the signal, hence there is no cone break-up resonance, phase incoherence, or signal smearing that is common in conventional drivers. The Neo Series drivers deliver clean, airy, transparent sound that is inherently natural and musically pleasing. Plus, the purely resistive impedance of the Neo Series makes an easy load for your power amplifier and greatly facilitates crossover design. Completely shielded for safe implementation in multimedia and A/V systems.

The standard Neo Series drivers use a uniform magnet system and radiate throughout the surface of the driver. The result is a transducer with a higher sensitivity and higher maximum output capabilities. However, since the radiating area is much wider, horizontal off-axis response is not as good as with the PDR version. This produces a very narrow "listening window" that has rapidly decreasing high-frequency output outside of this window. When highest efficiency or tightly controlled directivity are the goals, the standard version is still the unit of choice.

Bohlender Graebener Neo3W Planar Tweeter w/Back Cup
Bohlender Graebener Neo3W Planar Tweeter w/Back Cup is rated 4.6923 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from hear detail in voicesI added this as a mid-high driver to my center channel speaker and the details in the voices, in particular, became more distinct, adding to realism. Their small size also makes them easy to place and hide. This is a great addition at a low cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Something specialI agree with all the other reviews that describe detail, transparency etc, and they come into their own as a dipole where the sheer 'body' of textures they create is magical allied to a lovely natural presence and a sense of the music 'breathing' - something no dome could ever emulate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the Best Tweeters Available at Any PriceI run these in unusual line array configurations. When set up properly, they are capable of lower distortion and higher output than ANYTHING else down in the 1khz to 1.5khz range. Because of their unique planar design and limited vertical dispersion, you can do things with these that you simply can't do as effectively with a conventional dome tweeter. With a good design that makes use of their strengths and "limitations", they are an outstanding choice for high end systems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent tweeter for OBI use them in OB alignment. Their off axis performance is excellent for OB.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sound Great!I have used Vifa for years but tried these when my brother raved about them. After more than usual problems in mounting, I was finally able to hear more detail then any dome tweeter in the same price range. The sound is a bit brilliant but I like that. However after a couple weeks, I decided to use an 18db crossover at 3K Hz instead of the 12db I had before, definite improvement. Be patient with mounting, I'm not the only one who had a bit of difficulty, but they sound great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best tweeter for under $100I am quite a fan of good tweeters. Most of the ones that I have used over the years were Vifa (along with Audax and Peerless) and they make excellent drivers but the Bohlender are now the best I own. There is hardly any distortion and the response is flat. I found these drivers to be almost too efficient and used an attenuation circuit to bring the response down about 6 db so that my mi-range could keep up.

Bohlender Graebener Neo3W Planar Tweeter w/Back Cup

Where is the best place to mount these in my car, I was thinking in the front pillars. Wasn't sure which way they should face.

Asked by: davidrader65
Just like any tweeter, you want the front facing you as close to ear level as possible. The pillars would be a good choice.
