BIC Venturi V1220 12" Powered Subwoofer 200W is rated 4.3636 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Way more than I was expecting!I bought this as a cheap way to fill in the lows on my theater system. I was never expecting a 200w sub to sound so good. We were watching "Despicable Me" with the kids and when the rocket took off, it sounded and felt like there was a rocket just outside the house taking off. I was so impressed I purchased another one for my stereo system.Well packed, looks good, sounds great, built well, and has more features than I would ever use; very versatile. Easy to setup. Took some experimenting to get the position just right. This sub is very temperamental on its positioning. I ended up going diagonal in the corner, about 4" from each wall. I bought the first one over a year ago and it still amazes me how I got such a great sub for under $200.Definitely buy it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TONS OF BASS, FILLS THE ROOM NO PROBLEMGreat subwoofer. I used to use two Pyle Pro passive 15" subwoofers for my home office. This 12" subwoofer out performs both of my old 15" Pyle Pro subwoofers hands down!I hear frequencies that I have never heard before, and the sound is full.Placement is the key with this speaker. That and it depends where you sit in the room also. The instructions has a great setup section that goes through how to hookup the speaker and where in the room to place the speaker to get the sound that is right for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very bestWe have 4 35 year old BIC Venturi speakers, they are about 3 ft tall. We would only use BIC they are the best value and price. They are all still working and we just built a movie room and we used our 35 yr old speakers. They still sound as good as ever

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bass and Quality Built!I bought this sub based on the high satisfaction ratings I found on the internet. I was in the market for a good sub around $400-500. I found this sub for less then $200. This sub is built solid and puts out great bass for my theater family room that is sized 18'x18' with one open end to the kitchen. I would recommend this sub to anyone that wants great bass without paying an arm and a leg for it. Sounds as good as most high end subs I have heard! It is also very well built. I was surprised at the quality for being under $200.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from my first subwoofercan't compare to other subs, but as a first time owner of a sub, i've discovered you really need to have one. i've got a 2.1 system now. main speakers are paradigm reference 20. the addition of a sub changed the listening experience by an order of magnitude. i have no complaints about the BIC whatsoever. great sound, no unusual sounds or vibrations. really shakes the room up. i'm listening to a lot more house/funk/R&B.

I would be placing this in my living room an the carpet. Even with the spikes , It looks like this would touch the carpet. Will that be a problem ?

Should I get a front firing instead?
Asked by: blank264
You definitely don't want the sub to be touching the carpet when it's moving. Even though carpet's soft, it will wear out the surround over time if it is constantly hitting it. After all, speakers move REALLY fast, so even a soft touch is bad.Sounds like a front-firing might be better for you if your carpet is really thick. However, you might want to double-check that this would actually be a problem. Those spikes seem pretty tall, and the sub is inset a bit on the bottom. Also, you could put the spikes in spike holders or some other material that elevates them slightly. This sub is probably designed to work in carpeted locations, so I'm sure it would work for you, unless you have really thick carpet. Might want to double-check with some people who actually own the sub though.
