Rated 5 out of 5 by from REVIEW #2I wrote a review of these speakers when they arrived last week. I'm much better accustomed to the speakers at this point, making my recommendation even stronger for this product. It's good to have purchased something without remorse at a later time. I just went off of the reviews from others on this site, and the name of BIC. Can't think of how any company or individual could have done better for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Upgrade tweeter with Dayton AMT2-4 !!I was looking for surround/center channels to work with my classic Heil AMT 1B speakers with the Great Heil AMT ribbons tweeters. I couldn't find anything affordable. It turns out that the Dayton AMT2-4 is a drop in replacement for the tweeters in the Bic. The 3,500 Hz crossover works well and physically they fit perfectly. You can only use three screws to mount the new tweeters due to the cutout at the bottom of the exiting tweeter opening. But this is not problem.Works just as we'll with the matching DV center channel.http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-amt2-4-air-motion-transformer-tweeter-4-ohm--275-092

Rated 4 out of 5 by from prime front speakersI am using these in place of a pair of Yamaha 8" 3-way speakers. The clarity is far and away better than the Yamaha's as the front channel set in my 5.1 HT system. The difference was dramatic, no more muffled voices when watching movies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value in bookshelf speakersI've had these for a year and they continue to impress. Bought originally for a use with my computer, they have been relegated to surrounds in my HT setup. As mains they are lacking, mainly in the low end, and the highs can induce fatigue after a time, but they produce sound beyond the price tag and the high sensitivity means that nearly any amount of power can drive them well enough for great sound. The only downside is the ugly wrap on the cabinets, a gray and very fake looking wood grain that doesn't match anything else.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Sounding Shelf SpeakersI have these since Oct 2010 and they were used for Height speakers with my Pioneer VSX 1120 Home Theater. I now use them with a new set-up in my master bedroom. They are powered by a Pioneer VSX 816. The speaker has a good to very good overall sound. Don't expect booming bass. But for a use like a replacement for tv speakers you can't beat the sound. Pandora, Netflix being streamed sound way better then does very thin speakers that are in LED HDTV sets today. You can't expect much from a speaker when a HDTV is only 1" thick.Bottom Line: Good buy for the dollar!

BIC Venturi DV62si 6-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker Pair

Hello, These sound very good but i had to look inside. One small piece of damping. Sad !! I think they have potential. Recommended cabinet damping without bad side affects. ? Egg crate foam , poly fill . Sound deadening pads ? Xover mods ?Thanks Bob

Asked by: RGSINC
Tweaking the damping in the enclosure will be entirely up to you. Generally I recommend lining the walls with egg crate or Sonic Barrier foam in vented enclosures, but a couple hand fulls of polyfil will work well too. Generally too much fill will result in leaner bass response, but there is no right or wrong amount to use as long as you like how it sounds.

10-175 recommended ?

does that mean i can pump 150 watts into them all the time constantly. cause some companies say 10-175 recommended meaning that 175 is max power? these are gonna be presence speakers in an 11.2 ch system but i just wanted to know?
Asked by: home theater guy
10-175 is the recommended about of amplifier power for headroom. These would not be able to handle 150 watts continuous but they could handle short transients. Usually the surrounds and mains in a surround sound system have a limited amount of low frequency being fed to them which allows them to handle more power.

Good for a home theater system?

I want to use these speakers as mains in a home theater system. I would use the Yamaha RX-V373 and then some random 3ohm bookshelf speakers that I have. I am also going to buy the BIC F-12 subwoffer. They will mainly be used for TV and some music. So are these speakers a good match? Or should I look into more expensive speakers? I looked at the tower speakers that Parts Express carries and they are all way too expensive. My budget for speakers (not including a sub) is $175 maximum. Also, would these speakers and my 3ohm speakers overload the reciver? I would keep the volume pretty low and rarely crank it but I would be runing the system for up to 6 hours at a time. I put a picture of the 3ohm speakers below if it helps.
Asked by: ricky jay
These will work very well in a home theater environment, price does not make a speaker better or worse.
