BIC Formula FH56-BAR Speaker Bar System

The Formula FH56-BAR speaker incorporates an innovative, state-of-the-art solution to deliver discrete multi-channel sound from one speaker. Unlike other "all-in-one" speakers, the FH56-BAR speaker incorporates 5 discrete channels through a patent-pending technology which enables single drivers to reproduce more than one channel while combining with other drivers in creating a true lifelike expanded theater soundstage.

The unique cabinet and patent-pending driver design enables the FH56-BAR to deliver a precise focused center channel, an 8 ft. soundstage for left and right front channels, and amazing rear channel effects with no physical speakers behind the listening area.

A single Formula FH56-BAR placed above or below a television paired with a subwoofer can challenge 6-speaker surround systems selling for three times the price. FH56-BAR speakers can also be used for the three front and the three rear channels in a 6.1 theater system. Eliminate the clutter of speaker wires while still enjoying true 5-channel theater sound! 5 year parts and labor.

BIC Formula FH56-BAR Speaker Bar System is rated 4.6667 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bar on the marketHad to get speakers to match a new system. This was the absolute best I could find. No other bar could compete. MFG even helped for placement. This bar along wit the BIC F-12 subwoofer is the best combination of sound I have ever had. Even my neighbors compliment saying the sound does not rattle their apt but allows to hear great sound and bass response. Shipping was fast and the additional packaging kept the bar safe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well Worth The MoneyI received this sound bar today from Parts Express quickly and in good condition. I had it hooked up and running in five minutes. This will not replace a full home theatre set up with a large subwoofer and large front speakers with rear surrounds and a 500 RMS watt home theatre receiver. What it will do better than most all other sound bars is, with a decent subwoofer and home theatre amplifier, is to deliver very good sound with clear mid and high range sounds. The six inch woofers cannot possibly deliver the deep bass required of a good home theatre set up, but add a subwoofer and you are in business.I didn't test out the little four inch surrounds that are located on the sides of the bar, but I would not expect much of a surround effect. I am willing to sacrifice some of the surround effect for the simplicity of the set up and the dispensing of speakers and wires running all over the room. I plan to make my Sub, wireless with the Dayton wireless transmitter kit.The bar is pretty large and heavy, but well made and is reasonably attractive, certainly not a thing of beauty, but if you want to dispense with all the wires and speakers all over the house, get yourself a good subwoofer, hide your components in a cabinet and enjoy. I plan to mount it on a wall above a fireplace beneath my 50" flat panel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great barBought this to replace my main speakers that are being migrated to the new theater. Wifey-poo no longer wanted the surround speakers sitting out in the living room and a sound bar would be the obvious solution. So even though I read the reviews on the size of this speaker, it's still shocking to actually get it off the truck. It really is big. And it extends the full width of the Ikea TV stand on which it sits. Wifey-poo was incredulous that I bought something so large as a replacement. I told her to be careful what she wished for... That said, it is not very deep, so sitting my Plasma on top requires some additional finagling, but I did get it.Anyway, it's very important to properly set up your receiver speaker set up correctly. In our case I was replacing large main speakers and a subwoofer with this bar, so I had to make major adjustments to the speaker sizes and to adjust for no longer having a sub. Once I did it, the sound was amazing out of one box. Still lacking in some bass, but that's to be expected - and isn't necessary in the room where we have it. TV, movies, and music all sound very good through the bar, but surround isn't very realistic coming from a full set up. So don't expect miracles from it, but it will be very satisfying overall once set up properly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best soundbar for the moneyI read the reviews and took a chance. Didn't realize the unit was so large. Took about a week to run in and then the divers opened up. Sounds great for the bedroom. I was looking at a def tech, mirage, paradigm soundbar that costs way more. glad i got the BIC! bass isn't so good, but a sub would cure that. It is only for the bedroom though so the sounds is way better than the TV speakers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Sound BarThe BIC Formula FH56-BAR is great! I took a chance on it since there are limited reviews online. It has crisp highs and very clear sounds throughout. It sounds wonderful with a sub and holds it's own without one. It is large and heavy, but it definitely is well made and the craftsmanship is solid. Highly recommended!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Purchase EverI had a 5.1 System set up first, then I seen this speaker at Parts Express, which is the best price for this I've seen anywhere.I have a Sony STR-DH800 Receiver, and changed my speaker arrangement to a 6.1 Surround. The FH56-Bar is light years ahead of a 5.1. It has 7 Speakers in it and can use 3 or 5 channels. the sound is fantastic, and is more full. It gives you a full 360 Degrees of a sound spectrum. The highs are crisp and lows are deep. I would highly recommend this to anyone for a front or rear setup. Thank you Parts Express for the great price, and BIC for the great product. I will be purchasing more products from both companies in the near future.

BIC Formula FH56-BAR Speaker Bar System

Is this suitable to use as a center channel only speaker. I have left right from and rear but am looking for a better fill in the voice from the center channel

Asked by: ReggieC
You could use the center only speaker in this speaker bar, but it would make more sense to use the center channel speaker that is a match to this.

How does this sound from seats off to the side compared to straight ahead?

Asked by: Frasier
Without having horn dispersion information from the manufacturer it is hard to say. These appear to be 90x60 (or similar) horns, so assuming 90 degree horizontal dispersion means the off axis response should be pretty exceptional for these for most listening spaces.

I recently purchased this BIC Formula FH56-BAR Speaker Bar System form PE. I like the sound but a little short on the low end frequncy (bass). What would be a great upgrade replacment speaker for the (2) 6 1/2 woofers in ths speaker bar?

Asked by: DOrtiz
There are a couple problems with this. The woofers used in this system use multi voice coil design in order to be used for both center and left/right duties and we do not have anything that will be able to replace that. Also, a speaker bar like this is not supposed to reproduce a huge amount of lows, the 37 Hz extension is a bit optimistic. You are also limited by the enclosure itself, so changing the woofers would not necessarily amount to more bass. You would be farther ahead adding a small subwoofer to fill out the low end which is likely what BIC had in mind for this bar.

I recently purchased this sound bar from you and it sounds fine, but I can distinctly hear sound from the side (surround speakers) even though they are not connected to my receiver... How is this possible and is this normal or there something wrong?

I have a 7.1 receiver. I see the bar is marked with right and left rear but I was thinking of connecting my right and left side channels there and still running rear surround, would you advise this?

Asked by: BrianGutierrez
I don't see any problem doing this.
