BIC Acoustech HT-8W 8" 3-Way Concentric In-Wall Speaker Pair
Was wondering if the ht-8w can be cabinet mounted. Kinna want to build a recording studio nearfield monitor out of them. Any help you can give me will be apperciated.
They can be, but these are designed for infinite baffle or large sealed type applications. A large sealed enclosure would be recommended, and its hard to say how well these would work as near field monitors.

I noticed that several of the other brands offered have mounting kits...does the BIC above have a recommended installation kit included in the purchase price or is this available separately?
BIC recommends the optional M-8R rough-in-kits for pre-construction applications, it is not required for installation in post construction applications. It is not included with the speaker, and would need to be special ordered if you require it for installation.

Can these be used as a center channel mounted horizontally?
Yes it can be used as a center, but it would be best to use only one mounted vertically for the best off axis response, which will provide a wider "sweet spot".

Will mount these on a wall that backs up to a closet front facing AV room: Can anyone recommend box and port size for separate ported enclosures? Should port face AV Room or port to closet?
These like all in wall or in ceiling speakers do not require specific chambers in the walls to achieve proper bass response. They are designed to use whatever cavity is behind the woofer, whether its 0.5 cubic feet or completely free air. These will play into the lower 40's with no problem and mate perfectly with just about every subwoofer on the market.
