Behringer UCA222 U-CONTROL 2-In/2-Out USB/Audio Interface

The Fastest Way to Upgrade Your Mixer
Looking for a simple, affordable way to get your music into the digital realm? Or maybe you'd like to connect your computer to an external effects unit or recorder? Want to transfer your old cassette tapes to CD before the oxide falls off the tape? The fastest, easiest way to get analog audio into your computer is with the U-CONTROL UCA222 Audio Interface.

PC and Mac Ready
This ultra-compact, USB-powered device lets you connect your PC or Mac computer to virtually any piece of audio gear. It gets its power from your computer's USB bus, so no external power supply or batteries are required. And the UCA222 requires no special setup or drivers—just plug it in to a free USB port and start recording.

The UCA222 features two analog mono inputs for connecting any line-level device, such as a mixer or tape deck, and two analog mono outputs for connecting active speakers or studio monitors. On the digital side, the UCA222 provides USB connectivity and an additional S/PDIF optical output for direct analog-to-digital conversion. The stereo headphone output has a dedicated level control and allows you listen to either the input source or the computer output.

Imagine the Possibilities...
When used as a professional interface between a mixing console and your computer, myriad options become available. Some of these might include connecting the UCA222's RCA outputs to the TAPE INPUT jacks of your mixer or active monitors, or directly into the input channels of the mixer. Connecting to mixer input channels gives you access to equalization and allows you to use the AUX Send features of your mixer to build extremely versatile monitor mixes for your recording sessions.

Compose. Record. Mix. Share.
Tracktion puts the fun back into the creative process, so it's included free of charge with select Behringer products. This powerful, yet easy-to-use music production software is unlike anything you've seen before, putting everything you need on your desktop, on a single-screen, without the sea of drop down and hidden menus common to most other DAWs. In addition, Tracktion doesn't limit the number of tracks you can record, or the number of effects you can use. In fact, the only limitation is your Mac or PC computer's processing power. Recording and editing couldn't be easier; simply drag, drop, cut, copy or paste. Once your magnum opus is finished, share it with other "Tracktioneers" so they can listen, collaborate and edit. Visit to register your hardware, and you'll receive a redemption code to download Tracktion at no charge.

For a fraction of the cost of an overpriced USB audio interface from those other guys, you can have state-of-the-art digital conversion, world-class recording and editing software, and hassle-free connectivity between your PC or Mac Computer and any piece of audio gear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent DAC/interface for the moneyI bought this as an upgrade for my laptop's sound card when using it with my hifi setup. It's very easy to use and has a vastly superior sound to the inputs and outputs built in to my computer. The monitor switch makes it great for using in a tape loop. My only gripe is that it doesn't do 24/96 in or out, but for thirty bucks that's really not a legitimate complaint.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Simple Transition to Digital WorldI am no youngster so it may come as no surprise that I am moving in to the digital recording at a more cautious pace. I am from the days of reel to reel Pioneer and Dokorder recorders as the best in home recording. So much signal is lost on the (limited) multi-tracking capability of such hardware. When I became aware of the array of software packages with 24 - 32 - 48 track recording it was exciting. TOne of the best parts for me was to be able to utilize much of my dated analog hardware (main board and effects). That is when I stumbled on to this little gem. Left and right in - left and right out with a USB interface. This simple unit opened the door to all the new technology minus the initial investment of all digital hardware. I'm sure there are many of you who are hesitant to make the transition to all digital. With the Behringer UCA222 you can have access to the endless number of recording programs including the free programs included with this unit for a minute investment of time or money. Oh, and no more tape splicing, swapping patch cables, trying to remember where you started a track, and taking all day to lay down four good tracks.

can I use this to transfer music (turntable/pre-amp out) to my computer

Asked by: dh62
This can transfer any line level signal into a computer. The turntable would need to have a preamp in line to get the correct signal level but otherwise this would be fine.

Can I use my laptop to bring in background tracks for vocals while recording it all back on the laptop.. Or do I need to record on another laptop?

Asked by: jrhamm
You should be able to-import a track as from a CD-play a (bunch of) MIDI track(s)-sing or play along with the tracks-repeat-repeat, etc until you're done or your apllication won't let you do any more.-blend your tracks to a finished mix-burn a cd or export an mp3ALL in the same computer.Amazing, Huh?It may take some fussing with your computer, and learning the programs, but you can make a high quality recording one piece at a time with this little gizmo.
