The HA400 contains 4 high-power stereo amplifiers that maintain the highest sonic quality even at maximum volume levels. Ultra low-noise 4580 operational amplifiers are included for outstanding audio performance, these are the same op amps found in full-size audio equipment-plus, a DC 12-Volt adapter is included. If you are one of those musicians who like to deck out their equipment with lots of bells and whistles, the HA400 definitely makes a great addition to the functionality of your studio.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Its uses are limited only by your imaginationI was looking for an economical preamplifier. I had been listening to my MP3 player through my Henry Kloss-designed table radio until it died. I replaced it with a clip-on MP3 player, but it lacked the output to drive the speaker to adequate volume. I saw this headphone amp and thought it would fill the bill. Although the input and output jacks are 1/4" stereo plugs and the jack on the MP3 player is a 3.5 mini, a couple of Parts Express adapters (3.5mm Stereo Jack to 1/4" Stereo Plug Adapter, Part #: 090-345) and a couple of patch cords (3.5mm Male to Male Slim-Plug Shielded Audio Cable 1 ft., Part #: 240-051) and I was in business. Plenty of volume through the radio, no distortion, no clipping. And there a outputs to spare. In addition, I can drive my full size headphones and watch movies on the laptop without disturbing my spouse's slumber. A terrific price for a well built, quality headphone amplifier. Like I said, its uses are limited only by your imagination.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good for the moneyI bought it to drive headphones at the couch while watching TV, without disturbing the household. It's great for that, especially for the price. The sound is a little grainy, but hey, for $30 for 4 channels, what do you expect?

I need something to plug my record player into so that I can listen to records via headphones with volume control. Will this work? The record player is basic red white RCA cable

Asked by: 1974
Yes, but in order to use it you will need a RCA to 1/4" adapter like part number 093-314 to plug the record player into the HA400.

do i need a jack for 3.5 mm or can i just use the 3.5. also if i plug my headphones into this how do i plug the headphones into something to listen to i assumed this came with a cable for connecting it

Asked by: gedr
This amp only has 1/4" inputs and outputs, so a 3.5mm to 1/4" adapter is required. It does not include any cables (except the power supply), so a male to male cable is required in order to plug this into a line or headphone output.

Get a lot of backing tracks on tablets/phones for special music and it sounds weak. Can't always compensate with volume, gain and EQ settings.  Is it safe to use this to boost the signal into the audio input of a mixer or is there another solution?

Asked by: dajomo
Yes this will work for an application like that, although you will want to keep an eye on the input signal in order to prevent clipping.
