Is this the right adapter (part # 248-9886) to run the amp in stereo mode from my smartphone? http://www.parts-express.com/peavey-pv-35mm-trs-male-to-dual-1-4-ts-male-y-cable-10-ft--248-9886
Yes that cable will work fine for that application.

How would I run this amp in stereo mode with just a smartphone plugged into it? What adapters would I need? This amp should power 8 aura speakers with a set of 4 in series/parallel per channel, right? If so, would they run at 68 watts rms @4ohms each?
Yes this amplifier will power 8 of those wired in series parallel with 4 on each channel. The adapter cable you would need would be in the link below, be sure to check volume levels before anything is played through this, the volumes need to be on minimum before a signal is applied.

Hi, does this amp have fans, and if so would the fan sound level be considered to noisy for studio applications? Thanks!
Yes this amp does have fans in it. They will probably be audible but I cannot say if they will be too loud for a given application. You may contact Behringer to see if they have an average decibel level at a given distance.

This unit talks about an internal crossover switch set at 100 hrtz - so how does that work exactly
This amplifier does not have a high or low pass setting, only bridge or stereo switches. The product details are talking about the EPQ2000 and 1200 models, the 900 does not offer this feature.
