Behringer EPQ450 Europower 460W Lightweight Stereo Power Amp

What makes Behringer's EPQ450 Europower amplifiers unique is its Accelerated Transient Response technology. By carefully selecting transistors with extremely high slew rates and optimizing other proprietary parts of our circuitry, our amps are able to react instantly to even the most demanding electronic bass impulses. If the woofers in your PA system can keep up, your audience will hear a tighter, crisper, more natural sound.

This lightweight amplifier features rail tracking for effectively modulating the power supply rails with only the peaks of the input signal, instead of operating relatively continuously like most power amps. This technology has revolutionized pro audio amp designs with its outstanding performance and efficiency. When combined with switching-mode power supplies that do away with heavy toroid transformers, our new designs provide more dynamic punch and, because they are so much more efficient, run cooler and don’t require huge, heavy heat sinks.

Behringer didn't invent this technology, but the R&D Department has been working for years to perfect this version, creating lightweight amps that run cool and also achieve our goal of Accelerated Transient Response.

Everything You Need
The simple front panel controls of these amps give you all of your sound’s vital signs at a glance. After pressing the Power Button, the POWER LED will light when the amp is ready for action. Both channels have independent gain dials as well as clip LEDs that indicate when the signal is distorted and you need to reduce the gain. There are also SIGNAL LEDs that light up when a signal is present at the input. The back panel of the EPQ450 accepts balanced XLR. The EPQ450 has MONO On/Off and BRIDGE On/Off switches.

Behringer’s new EPQ power amps are built for the working musician. They are exceptionally light, they pack massive power and they are built to last through all the rigors of the road. Plus its light price tag will leave you with enough cash left over to acquire more stuff to amplify! Check out the EPQ series and find out why Behringer power amps are among the most popular on Earth.

Behringer EPQ450 Europower 460W Lightweight Stereo Power Amp
Behringer EPQ450 Europower 460W Lightweight Stereo Power Amp is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great AmpI replaced a way old 6U boat-anchor-heavy mono monitor amp with this puppy. Great results. Very clean, good articulation and we can run our monitors in stereo and/or separate sonic content from left versus right as needed. Plenty of power and runs cool whether we use 2 or 4 floor monitors (8 or 4 ohms respectively), and all in a tight 1U package. We had to adapt to the SpeakOn outputs, but that was easy enough. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Amp - so farI needed a 1u amp for my guitar rack, so I thought I'd try the EPQ450. It was a tad heavier than the 2u amp I replaced it with, but it gave me the extra space I needed. It sounds great, is easy to install and hook up, and has plenty of power to handle large and small shows. I've only had it for three weeks (four shows) and it works great, but I can't speak for its durability. I'll update later on. Great buy for the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well designed, lightweight 1U amplifier. This amplifier differs from the typical 1U amplifier in that it has a switching power supply rather than a toroidal transformer. Although I have shied away from these in the past, I believe Behringer has proven themselves capable of building a quality switching power supply after the iNuke series came out and hit a home run.I used it for distributed sound to several pairs of speakers. The Toshiba output transistors are capable of handling the weird impedance curve that the impedance-compensating volume controls can have. A run of the mill home receiver just doesn't cut it, and a multi-channel amplifier was out of the budget.

Will this be able to adequately power my two tower speakers?

I am interested in an amp that could power two tower speakers that I plan to build. Each speaker will house a single Goldwood GT-510 1" Soft Dome Tweeter, a single GRS 6PR-8 6-1/2" Poly Cone Rubber Surround Woofer and two GRS 8PR-8 8" Poly Cone Rubber Surround Woofers. Each of these drivers is rated at 8 ohms and has an RMS rating of between 50 and 65watts. In each tower, if I wire the subs in parrallel, then the tweet and mid in parrallel (with each driver size having their own crossover), then both of those sets in series, will this amp be ok? I'm going for a budget version of Paul Carmody's "Dayton Classic Revival."

This amp would be plenty for a speaker like that.
