Behringer CT100 Cable Tester 6-in-1
Behringer CT100 Cable Tester 6-in-1 is rated 4.64 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent simple to use testerWhen building/repairing numerous cables it's easy to swap the odd pin connection inadvertently. This tester makes quick work of identifying wrong pin connections. Also had an intermittent function that allows you to pull/wiggle and manhandle a cable being tested and it will tell you if there are any split second breaks indicating a bad wire or connection... very handy for road worn cables.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does exactly what I neededI have PA sound as a hobby, and in order to put together systems I can afford everything is used, sometimes including cables. This tester has been very useful testing cables before setting up and helps debug problems quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This really worksThis is a very simple tool on the outside but it does some very fine work. The intermittent test is most useful on cables that are frequently coiled and stored. It would be helpful to have a pair of turn-arounds for those special cables and snake feeds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value.Idiot-proof, compact, extremely sturdy. All metal enclosure with good quality jacks, simple to understand LED readouts. Runs on 2 AA batteries.Features that set this apart from the slightly cheaper Pyle-Pro PCT10 are:-'Test tone' function which sends a known volume signal down the line. Very helpful in level adjustments down long chains of equipment.-'Intermittent' issue indication - This is what made me choose this model. If there's even the shortest dropout, the LEDs indicate it. Intermittent issues are the most annoying and can be difficult to troubleshoot. My only complaints:-The a small screw holding the battery cover on stripped immediately when initially inserting batteries. It was like carving a bar of soap with a knife. Quite frustrating. Used my Dremel to change it from phillips into a slotted screw, and managed to get it out.-There's an included belt clip that attaches with two screws on the back. This clip blocks access to the battery compartment, which is ridiculous. Luckily I have no need for the clip. I used one of the screws intended for the clip as a replacement to the stripped battery cover screw.-No rubber feet on the bottom + metal enclosure + battery cover screw = sliding around and marring whatever it sits on. I stuck some re-purposed rubber feet on the bottom. After the few 'problem solving' situations mentioned above, this thing is a 5 star product. Too bad they couldn't go the extra step to make it 5 star out of the box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great FeaturesEven through I own a number of cable testers already I bought this one because it tests TT Bantam patch cables. However, the intermittent open and short test feature is an added bonus and has been useful too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product for the priceNot a huge Behringer audio fan due to quality, lack of schematics, and their terrible parts availability/identification, but this seems to work great. Has a couple features the Rolls doesn't have, and it seems sturdy enough to bounce around in a toolbox. Only downside compared to the Rolls is you only get one XLR per end, so if you have an XLR cable that is male on both ends or female on both ends (pretty rare), you couldn't test it without adding in an adaptor (and the adaptor could be the fault). Only other negative is you have to keep the instruction book handy, the LED system is informative but also complicated enough you won't remember how to use it if it sits on a shelf for a month in between uses. That said, it is a more complex tester than the competition, plus has a tone generator for further testing use. Also saves the current result in memory, so you can keep the result in front of you after removing the cable, compare it to other cables, etc.
