Behringer B2031P Truth Reference Studio Monitor

When it comes to your recordings, you want honesty. In fact, considering how important your music is, you should demand it! That’s why we designed the B2031P Reference Monitors to speak nothing but the TRUTH. They sound great hooked up to your stereo or your video surround system, and are critical tools for any recording studio—where every note you play or sing is "under the microscope."

Active vs. Passive

Active monitors are designed to take all the guesswork out of matching speakers with amplifiers and crossover networks (among other things), and provide a "turnkey" solution for exceptional sound in the recording studio. We make them, we love them, and we sell truckloads of them! But there is a place for passive studio monitors, too.

Significant applications for passive monitors include surround-sound theater, stereo systems, computer workstations, etc. Or, maybe you have a stack of high-quality power amps just sitting around collecting dust. TRUTH B2031P passive studio monitors are a quantum leap from those bookshelf box speakers you may currently be using.

Built on a Legacy
The TRUTH B2031P monitor has all the great features of the TRUTH B2031A active monitor with one exception; you provide the amplification. Due to their high-resolution performance, B2031P two-way reference studio monitors are perfect for nearfield monitoring applications: from small mixing environments to multi-channel surround setups. Our TRUTH monitors have been so wildly successful that we've sold thousands upon thousands of them to some of the most critical ears on the planet.

Don't Let the Size Fool You
TRUTH B2031P monitors provide ultra-linear frequency response from 55 Hz to 21 kHz. The internal crossover point is fixed at 2.0 kHz for optimal performance of the two-way system. And the B2031P can handle input levels up to 150 watts.

Rock-Solid Bass
Bookshelf-style home stereo speakers can really fool you when it comes to bass output, mainly because they are not designed for critical listening applications. That's why audio/video engineers and producers listen to projects through studio reference monitors or studio-grade headphones. The B2031P's long-throw 8.75" polypropylene-diaphragm woofer delivers smooth, deep bass all the way down to 55 Hz.

Why the Polypropylene Woofer?
We're glad you asked. Polypropylene is light and strong, enabling the speaker cone to respond very quickly to fast transient peaks. This low-mass cone material is also much stiffer than paper, important for not only maintaining bass content integrity, but critical for midrange accuracy and definition. The deformation-resistant aluminum die-cast chassis maintains suspension integrity and provides highly efficient voice-coil cooling, even under extreme operating conditions.

Non-Fatiguing, Wide "Sweet Spot"
B2031P's HF (High Frequency) content comes courtesy of an ultra high-resolution 1.0" ferrofluid-cooled tweeter mounted on our proprietary wave-guide. While some of our competitor’s studio monitors have a highly focused "sweet spot" (the optimal listening position for a pair of loudspeakers), our wave-guide is designed to create a much more generous, broader listening zone. That means you won’t wear a hole in the carpet in that one spot where everything sounds great. You are free to move around inside the stereo image to find the ideal spot in the mix for subtle instrument or effects placement opportunities.

You also won’t suffer the ravages of "monitor fatigue-syndrome," an ailment that comes from listening to harsh high-mids and treble content for hours on end, even during those all-night mix-down sessions that can really test your nerves.

Hearing is Believing
We could bore you to tears with all the technical jargon (if you like that stuff, you’re sure to enjoy the product spec sheet at the back of the manual), but hearing the TRUTH will make you a believer. We think you'll agree that nothing in this class outperforms the B2031P monitors. Compare them to the competition and hear the TRUTH!

Behringer B2031P Truth Reference Studio Monitor is rated 4.3333 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Versatile, Quality, Performace and Low CostI purchased 2 of these Truths seeking a higher fidelity sound for stereo listening. As mentioned in the other reviews, the B2031P is very versatile, has solid build, sound quality, efficiency, performance and extremely low cost in comparison. The specs and performance trump anything in and around its price point. Unlike a monitor, they have a nice broad listening spot which allows for Stereo enjoyment or small home theater applications. I have compared them to all of my bookshelf sized speakers...Sonance THX, Home theater dynamics, BIC and Onix Rockets. All of which start at double the price of these. Hands down the best sound and presence. Deep Bass response is excellent...although there is a small db drop in mid-bass frequency at about 900hz to 1k ( is my guess) which may be due to the large 8.75in driver and or the placement as I'm still fiddling with acoustic arrangement's. In this price point however, the only other passive monitors I know of that compete are the Tannoy Reveal 601p Passive. However, they have 6.5 inch driver ( which im sure helps Mid Bass ) so you may feel the need for a sub. In addition im not sure if their listening area is focused or broad so they many not be as versatile. You don't feel that need for a sub with the Behringer B2031P Truth. For portable testing and arrangement's I purchased the DTA-100 which powers them just fine, yet could use another 25 watts or so for a more solid top end. Currently running/break in on an alter amp Kenwood Trio KA-9300 @ 120rms. I may update with photos as I fine tune the arrangement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You'll have to pay thousands to get better...About the only other option of comparable value would be the "A" Active version of these speakers. They compare favorably in blind tests comparing them to speakers costing thousands of dollars (including S.L.'s "Orion" speakers).Unless you really enjoy building your own speakers you'd be hard pressed to compete with these, with DIY speakers.
