from Nice, nearly flat responseUsing SE 16 I compared this mic to my calibrated Dayton EMM-6. The B-5's response was identical and flat up to about 17Khz where it started to droop, but was only down about 3dB at 20Khz as compared to the measurement made by the Dayton mic. The directional cardioid capsule had an extended and flatter response compared to the omni capsule. With the Omni and cardioid heads, this mic makes a great mic for horn instruments or overheads for drums. I suspect mic'ing an acoustic guitar would be well within this mic's limits.I bought two of these to make live stereo recordings but haven't tried them for that yet. However, I mic'ed my sax player with it during practice and this mic had a cleaner sound and a definite high frequ advantage over the Shure condenser mic that we were using.
