B&C 8NDL51 8" Neodymium Woofer
Will this play loudly with only 75w RMS?
I have been reading alot that I shouldn't discount using an 8ohm driver just because it will be given less power than a 4ohm driver if it has a high efficiency. Given that this IS a high efficiency driver will it play quite loudly with only 75w RMS? I will be using it as a midbass only driver playing from 70-250hz only. My CAR amplifier is rated a clean 150w at 4ohms, but only 75w at 8ohms with this driver. Is this driver going to simply laugh at a measly 75w rms or it will it get goin' given it's high sensitivity?
I am right along with Matt here. I am surprised to see this high a power handling capability with such a high efficiency rating. The two are somewhat mutually exclusive. Depending on your enclosure, this woofer will definitely get loud with 75w on it. The only question becomes how much actual low frequency you ask it to carry. The way this is set up, you could feasibly get a VERY nice sounding set up with that amount of power and plenty of spl.
