from Looking for a single point source? Here it is...It's nice to have friends that are both audio-crazy and rich. Otherwise, I would have never heard this excellent machine. Our friend / client is a musician that plays guitar and keyboard. He wanted full spectrum -stereo sound, high SPL, wide dispersion and above all, simplicity. He did not want to spend even three seconds plugging any cables. He wanted a full range stereo PA in one box. It had to be easy, fast and fit in his German coupe. Money was no object. We built a custom 2x12 cabinet for him and installed these with hand-built crossovers and QSC power and a small Mackie mixer. WOW!For simplicity of operation,it can't be beat. It rolls in, cranks up above head-level via a power-drill. All the cable connections are internal and permanent. He routinely plays in noisy 300-seat nightclubs using only two of these speakers for everything: backing tracks, keys, guitar, vocals, and the occasional guest percussionist. They are nearly ruler flat, have a beautiful transparent sound, project to the back of the room and are LOUD!I can't recommend these for everyone. However, for certain users and applications they would be mighty tough to beat. Considering the cost of commercial powered speakers and their limitations, the cost of these things might not be prohibitive. For those who want a portable system and know how to design and build, they are definitely worth trying. Wealthy Audiophiles excluded, working musicians with a smattering of technical know-how can construct and awesome portable PA with little more effort than building a regular cabinet. It isn't really that expensive when you add up the alternatives.
